TCHAIKOVSKY'S

EUGENE ONEGIN
MARCH 17.22.25. 2012

Tchaikovsky's fiery drama of  love and regret,
the Russian masterpiece, Eugene Onegin

The Story:

Highly cultured yet bored with the world, Eugene Onegin is symbolic of the Russian Romantic era. His fast friendship with the poet Lensky leads him down a path from which no one would

return unscathed.

Lensky, in love with the vivacious Olga, introduces Eugene to her older sister Tatyana. In a short time, the shy-country girl passionately professes her love for Onegin in the famous Letter Scene. She unknowingly sets off an unstoppable series of events, culminating in a duel between friends.

Do not miss this long-awaited Charlotte premiere! All of Tchaikovsky's greatest genius is embodied in his setting of Alexander Pushkin's moving romantic drama, Eugene Onegin.

Tickets start at $15!

GET READY CHARLOTTE,

FOR THE DIXIE DIVA

Victoria Livengood dials down the Southern charm for Opera Carolina's "Eugene Onegin"
By Page Leggett, Charlotte Magazine

Victoria Livengood Victoria Livengood is known on New York stages and in opera houses all over the world. The New York Times has described her as "naturally seductive and vocally alluring." The Boston Phoenix magazine compared her acting to Joan Crawford and her singing to Maria Callas, and the Buenos Aires Herald named her "one of the leading singer-actresses of her generation."

But around these parts, folks just call her the "Dixie Diva."

The Thomasville native (and Mint Hill resident) was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in 1985 and went on to make her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1991 as Laura in Luisa Miller. She's played more than 100 performances with the country's most prestigious opera house...

RevueI had no idea we had a world-renowned opera diva right here in our own backyard. You've performed on stages all over the world. What keeps you living in Mint Hill? Have you ever entertained the notion of moving to New York?
