Community Conversation: Supporting Small Business
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season underway, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes:

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” - H. Jackson Brown Jr.

As I traverse across our County meeting and speaking to people about their concerns and aspirations for Prince George’s County and how I can best serve their needs through a collective vision as your next County Executive, one of the top and trending community conversations is working where you live. I have been afforded the opportunity to speak with many enterprising and thriving County business owners and in many cases this model of business has yielded great success. My goal is to keep this momentum going by growing our County’s local business base.

I not only have been impressed with the expansive list of services and goods these small and minority businesses represent, I am eager to share and encourage you to join me in supporting their businesses during and after the holiday season. Without a doubt, the DC Metropolitan  area has a lot to offer but I stand firm and proud to tout that from North, Central to South County, our local businesses serve an important purpose in our local communities, boost our commercial tax base and often provide unique and specialty services with a personal touch that are meeting the various needs of communities that make Prince George’s County a highly desirable and sought after place to call home.

To help you identify some of these businesses, please browse this link and take the opportunity to seek out their services http://princegeorgescounty.businesslistus.com/ . I am a firm believer that word of mouth and sharing resources are the best promotional tools that further inspire and attract more business entrepreneurs to choose Prince George’s County as home to their business. If one of your end of the year, today or new year’s goals is to start your own business, here is a great starting point http://www.pgcedc.com/start-a-business .
