Youth Leadership Experience
Unified partner, Hannah Harrison, and Special Olympics Florida athlete, Marina Shaker, started their week off participating in the Youth Leadership Experience at the
USA Games. The Youth Leadership Experience is an immersive experience in which participants hold volunteer roles, engage in educational and interactive experiences, and shadow experienced key volunteers. Having the chance to reflect on, review, and learn from their everyday experiences at the Games, these youth leaders will become more deeply connected to the Special Olympics movement as committed volunteers, teammates and friends for life.
Their first day consisted of carrying out social media for the fan zone experience. Hannah and Marina interviewed coaches and athletes, took pictures and videos, and posted on social media - learning the ins
and out of hashtag usage, and interviewing for social media.

Danny Fundora and Daina Shilts hit the Water

As Stand Up Paddleboard makes it debut at the USA Games, ESPN analyst and Special Olympics Wisconsin athlete,
Daina Shilts, got a first hand look at what its takes to be a paddleboarder from Special Olympics Florida athlete, Danny Fundora.
"I had an amazing time doing Stand Up Paddleboard. Danny was a great teacher. I would love to do more of it in the future, it can really help me work on my balance with snowboarding," said Daina Shilts.
Danny and Team Florida wrapped up their competition today on Lake Angle in Seattle. Danny placed first in the 4800 yards competition. For Stand Up Paddleboard results visit the

Day two of competition continued today with 14 different sports taking place including Gymnastics kicking off in the USA Games.
Some highlights of Team Florida's wins so far include:
- Richard Scott won gold in the 25m Swimming Freestyle
- Albert "AJ" Johnson won gold in the 100m Athletics event
- Danny Fundora placed first in the 4800m Stand Up Paddleboard event
- Charles Piantieri placed first in the Bench Press, Squat, and Combo: Bench, Deadlift, and Squat
