John-Marc Vachon Joins WEtech Team 
John-Marc joins the WEtech team as Programs & Marketing Manager after over 17 years in the restaurant industry. He brings with him over 15 years of Management experience as well as extensive knowledge of Social Media Marketing & Graphic Design. His work as Director of Marketing for Wendy's Windsor-Essex has won both local & National Awards, including recognition of his locally created Community Connection Program which has donated over $50,000 to Windsor-Essex non-profit organizations since it's inception and has now been adopted in several other regions across the country. On June 19, 2015, at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, keynote speakers Dave Wilkin, Founder of Ten Thousand Coffees, and Keanin Loomis, President of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, are joining ten partner organizations and dozens of community influencers for the Windsor180 Summit, a conference designed to bring young talent closer to our region with local knowledge, modern skills, and the right networks. Kaitlyn Sheehan-a Registered Nurse-had an idea for a mobile app that could improve health care on both sides of the Detroit-Windsor border. Her cross-border idea likely emerged from her dual employment as an RN at the Windsor Regional Hospital Cardiac Catherization Lab and the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Harper University Hospital in the Detroit Medical Center.

She called her app Stent Tracker - a web-based app synched to a patient's smartphone that allows them to store their cardiac stent information, manage and schedule their medication list, and provides an educational tool on heart health after a patient undergoes coronary angioplasty. Read more

Tribute to Entrepreneurs Set for May 12

Tribute to Entrepreneurs The Accelerator's Tribute to Entrepreneurs Reception is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator, which began at the Windsor Yacht Club in April 2014.  All funds raised go to assist the Accelerator with offering a facility and programs for new and emerging businesses. This year's event has been rescheduled to May 12th at Walkerville Brewery. Read more

University of Windsor Student Wins $25,000 for Portable Turbine Project

Detroit Lands FIRST Robotics World Championships

Detroit has won the bid to host the FIRST Robotics Championship starting in 2018 until 2020.The prestigious event has been held in St. Louis, Missouri for the last four years and each year has attracted 30,000 participants and spectators from over 40 countries.  Each year the Championship injects over $30 million into the St. Louis economy. Read more
