Tom Thumb

WHO DOESN'T LIKE PIE?

We all love pie, whether it is Banana Cream, Apple, Pizza, or  . Pie is comforting. We all want a piece of the pie. At Tom Thumb, they give Brotherhood and Temple Shalom a piece of the pie every time you buy a pie, or even the ingredients you put in the pie. We get money when you give them our number (and it is about the same percentage as Pi).
Don't be dumb, Shop Tom Thumb.

Mention this number at the check-out station:
1549

PLEASE SHOP WITH YOUR T.S. TOM THUMB CARD.

USHER

Prez Sez

I am so proud of the Brotherhood and their involvement recently in the Israel Today Symposium held at Temple Shalom. Brotherhood members came out the Wednesday night before and helped set up most of the rooms, then they got involved on Saturday (Shabbat!) and continued the setup. The Temple needed a large number of volunteers, the Brotherhood came out in force, volunteering in all areas of the symposium. Besides giving a big shout-out to all my brothers that got involved, I would especially like to point out the involvement of Steve Weintraub and Perry Zidow, without them the Symposium, totaling over 500 participants, could not been pulled off.
One of the first activities I found myself volunteering for in Brotherhood was high holiday ushering. It wasn't a large time commitment; I was going to be at services anyway. But I felt like it was a way to dip my toe into participating and being a part of synagogue life. I also enjoyed meeting and greeting new people and providing them a smile as they walked into the sanctuary.
In the past, I have written about getting involved in Brotherhood, I'd like to list a few things just to tempt your taste buds. We're not asking for you to do a lot, except have a good time. They are:
Aug 20 th Membership-Palooza Pool Party/BBQ,
2 PM (Liston Home) 15905 Ranchita Dr, Dallas
This is a family affair, come out and enjoy!
Aug 22 nd Brotherhood-Sisterhood Coffee Break Book Club, 1:45 PM (Zidow Home)
Sept 3 rd NFL Fantasy Football - BARFS Draft 9 a.m. at Eichelbaum Law Office.
This is so popular we have two leagues of 12 teams and they play a Super Bowl game to determine the champion. You gotta try this one.
Sept 9 th Brotherhood's Annual Yankee-Bashing Party Rangers vs. Yankees Globe Life Ballpark 7 PM. This is open to the whole family.
Not everyone can attend every Brotherhood event - dare I say not everyone wants to attend every Brotherhood event. But look at the calendar, and see what interests you. Giving Blood? Fantasy football? Book Club? A night out on the town? Today's Brotherhood is not your father's Brotherhood - check us out.
Don't miss out on the fun we can have as summer winds down. I look forward to seeing you at one, if not all these events.

Thanks to All Who Helped this Past Month.

Thanks to those that helped with CHAI Bingo: Bill Hoffpauer, Ray Farris, Rick and Shirley Cohen, Jeff and Kim Kort, Scott Brenda Stefanie Butnick, Perry & Ilene Zidow, Jim & Ellen Liston, Steve & Ann Weintraub (and their granddaughter Skylynn Garcia), Ali Rhodes, and (Hank) Aaron Greenberg.

Thank you to all the Brotherhood Members that helped make the Israel Symposium a great success. And mazel tov again to Ken Glaser!

If we missed your name, it was not due to a lack of gratitude, it is due to our ineptitude, for which we enjoy abundance. We thank the unthanked, the underthanked, and thankless.
