Rebuilding Lives Through Structure, Community & Self-worth
May 1 is our 10 year anniversary_
A Word from Our Founder
Ollie Mae
Ollie Mae and Me

It's May! What a glorious month this is. Not only does it bring spring flowers, but around here it means celebrating another year of helping men reclaim a life of sobriety and hope. And this year, we reached a BIG milestone...10 YEARS of operation!

May 1st is our official anniversary date. Many have asked me why I chose that particular date. It has everything to do with a beautiful woman I knew from the age of 6 years old...Ollie Mae Burnside. Her influence played a significant role in my own journey of addiction and recovery. I owe her my life. As a tribute to her, I decided to open the doors to Next Step Recovery on May 1st, 2006...Ollie Mae's birthday.  Read more about Ollie Mae and her influence on me in this 2013 article written by WNC Women.

Help us celebrate a decade of recovery! Join us as a golfer or sponsor for our GOLF FORE RECOVERY tournament on September 17th. I can't promise that we will have good weather or that you will get a good score that day, but I can assure you that you will have a GREAT time golfing and celebrating with us. Have a great month! Stop to smell the flowers and enjoy the spring sunshine.

A Q&A Session with Terence Streeter, NSR Program Director
Meet Terry
Terence Streeter Program Director
Q: Can you give a short history of your recovery story?
A: I view my personal recovery as the beginning of a life worth living. Because of my addiction I was constantly searching for true happiness. I could never handle that time in my life -- it continuously spun out of control.

Q: How did you connect with Next Step and become a member of the staff?
A: I have always enjoyed helping others. I began formal training at AB Tech with hopes of working in the helping field in Charlotte, North Carolina. Because of what can only be described as a miracle, a position at Next Step Recovery was offered to me.

Q: What advice do you have for those on the path to recovery and those who love them?
A: Never give up! Recovery takes some work, but the possibilities are endless. The new life that you create for yourself will be better than anything that you can imagine.

Q: What is a fun, little-known fact about you?
A: What I enjoy the most is spending time and making waffles with my Grandson, and I melt when he calls me grandaddy!!

How can I get a referral to Next Step?
