CAPTAIN YOGI'S USELESS
BUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hello Everybody!

Well, we’re in the depths of winter and I think we’re all really considering taking some of our members lead, and moving south! I know there are several of you still on a high from the big Eagles win on Sunday. I must say I’m not an Eagles fan but of the two teams, I’m glad they won. I know the parade is Thursday and hopefully Philly won’t burn down, but I wouldn’t be surprised! LOL. It was a great game; the Giants didn’t win but at least Eli won the commercial war!
We have a full bus headed to New York City to see Escape to Margaritaville and some of the sights. I shudder to think what’s going to happen when Parrot Heads have Idle time in NYC. All I have to say is LOOK OUT NYC, here comes the merry band of misfits! There will be lots of phun on the bus ride with 50/50’s raffle baskets and maybe some obscure trivia contests, so study up. Can’t wait to get there!

The BIG event is just around the corner! Saturday, March 10 th at 4 pm, be there or be square! If you haven’t gotten your tickets, please make sure you see anyone on the board or you can go online to our website and purchase tickets. Of course, Tropical Soul will be there for the entertainment with some surprise guests from the past and swimming, yes swimming, they have a huge HEATED indoor pool! There are also rooms available for that night by calling Wyndham Garden in West York.

We do have a date for the 2 nd Annual PHIAP Corn Hole Tournament! It will be June 30 th in conjunction with Tropical Soul playing that night at the Range End Country Club in Dillsburg) I hope I didn’t steal Tropical Souls thunder by letting that out). We’re looking for volunteers to help out, so please let Rick Clapper or Scott Braasch if you’re interested in helping out! Details to follow.

And finally, the 4 th Annual Jakie Invitational on August 19 th at the Rich Valley Mini-Golf course. The committee is working hard to put on another great event this year! Last year was a sell out and this year promises to be the same, so sign up early! More details to follow.
Last, but not least, we are past the Pitchers and Catchers having to report, so that only means spring is around the corner and who gives a crap what Phil says, WE WANT WARM WEATHER NOW! Looking forward to all the great events this summer!
And lest I forget, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

The pool is frozen but always open!

You know it’s My Job

We all have them; we don’t want them, “JOBS”. We all spend our days in the grind, converting our nickels into dimes, the 8 to 5 grind. Whether we are bankers, veterinarians, marketing reps, computer dot com people or social workers, we get up in the morning, put on our business clothes and head out to our jobs. I was thinking about Jimmy and his jobs and jobs that he talked about. He is a musician, a writer, pilot, boat captain and restaurant owner. Just to have one of his jobs would make most of our dreams come true.
Maybe we were supposed to be a Jesuit priest or a naval academy grad. We can be bartenders and winos, I know a few. Or we can stand before crowds of people and play for gumbo. But remember  there is no money back guarantee to this job. Me, well I have a school girl heart, I want to jump in a ragtop and cross the wild meridian. I want to dance like Carman and walk up my long board and hang off the nose. I do believe there is a job out there for me; I just can’t find an ad for a” Calypso Poet” in the paper.

Share a Book with a PHriend

Have you read a good book lately that you'd like to share
with a phriend in our Club?

We’d like to start a book sharing program.
Write up a short teaser for a book you've read
and think your fellow PHAIP Phriends would enjoy it too.

If a PHriend would like to read it,
we'll get the book to them!
When they’re done we'll share it with the next Phriend!

Here's the next book for Sharing
recommended by a few in
our PHIAP Phlock

Talk Murder to Me
by Jack Terry

Tricky Dick’, the protagonist of "Talk Murder to Me" had a problem. That problem wasn’t finding someone to blame the murder on. It was finding someone – anyone – who wasn’t confessing to being the murderer.

The last thing Dick expected to see after spending seven days on his sailboat in Key West communing with high tides, the full moon, a talking manatee and possibly a woman, was a dead body. Even more shocking to him was discovering that the chief of police had been replaced by his one-time boss – and frequent nemesis –

And when you finish this one.... there's 2 more books in the series!
