Carver Charter Renewal
As a dependent charter high school in the Sacramento City Unified School District, Carver is responsible for submitting a Charter Renewal Petition every five years. Last week, Dr. Alessandri submitted the charter on behalf of the school. In the next month, the district charter review team will review the charter, visit the school (1/31), and request clarifications, more data or other items to complete the review.

The charter will be presented to the SCUSD Board of Education on Thursday, February 16 in the evening. Our faculty, students and Parent Guild members will give a brief presentation. We hope you can join us at the Serna Center to support Carver's charter renewal. The presentation will be sometime after 6:30pm. We will now more specifics as we approach the meeting date.

On Stage: Spring Play Prep Under Way!
A message from Madame Fain:
The Drama Department is about to start rehearsals for Theophilus North, our Spring Play. It is set on the east coast in 1926. As we start to pull together costumes and props for this production please consider what you have been holding on to that may be more useful on the stage. If you have Grandma and Grandpa's things in storage, perhaps we can take them off your hands and give them a new home and purpose. The list of things we can use includes but is not limited to:
  • Women's skirts, blouses, dresses, jackets, suits, hats, shoes, jewelry, handkerchiefs, slips, and gloves.
  • Men's shoes, suits, hats, handkerchiefs, overcoats, suspenders, tie tacks and bars, cufflinks, straight and bow ties, vests and cumberbunds.
  • Props: manual typewriter, interesting items to dress a set (what sits on the mantle or bookshelf?) Tea service, small furniture (side tables, wooden chairs, plant stands, etc)  If you aren't sure text me a picture and I will let you know if we can use it.  (916) 710-1347
  • We can also use tools of all sorts and clean lumber left over from your home projects.
Nothing to donate but you'd still like to help? I would love to have some folks who would bake goodies to sell at intermission. If this sounds more your speed, send me an e-mail and I will send you a request the week before we open. * Theophilus North will be playing March 30 th, 31 st & April 1st, *
All-School Field Trip Update
With a generous grant from the City of Rancho Cordova, we are able to charter busses to take the whole school to Sacramento State University to see the Sacramento/Black Art of Dance in honor of Black History month.

If your student will meet us at the theater and NOT take the bus-please email us a note indicating your permission to meet us at the theater at 9:15 a.m. (It is important that we get an accurate head count of students taking the bus) If you have not already done so, please return the permission slip to the office ASAP! download permission slip here

The Dance production begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs 2 ½ hours.

We will have lunch. Students can bring a lunch or purchase a lunch at the food court. Students can order a bag lunch through the cafeteria. Please email Mrs. Agnos [email protected] with your student's name. We will bring the bag lunches with us and distribute after the performance.

After lunch, we will take a college campus tour until 2 p.m. The busses will return to campus by 3:15 p.m. for the regular 3:20 p.m. dismissal.
