Texas FCCLA: Back to School Advisor Update
It was a busy summer for Texas FCCLA! Please read this update to learn about our summer news and updates.
2017 NLC Success
Texas FCCLA wrapped up an incredible 2016-17 school year with a great showing at the National Leadership Conference! We had 164 Gold Medals, 110 Silver Medals, and 15 Bronze Medals. We also had 9 teams who received first place, 9 teams placing second place, and 16 teams placing third place in the nation! You can find a list of these top competitors on our website.

We also have published the Texas FCCLA Story to reflect all of the achievements of the previous school year. It is on our website, and can be a great tool when visiting with potential sponsors or introducing FCCLA to school board and community members.
2017-18 Theme
The Region and State Officers did a great job coming together in June to plan for the upcoming year. The officers brainstormed and came up with the theme "Texas FCCLA: Constructing Leaders". The logo printed above is available to be used for printed resources. If you are interested in using it for t-shirts, please contact Motivated Print Designs ([email protected] ), as they can make sure it meets copyright laws.
Affiliation and Membership
Texas FCCLA has a membership increase during the last school year, and we hope to have the same again this year! The Membership Committee planned a goal of 25,000 members for this year. Membership recruitment week is September 10-16! Please click the link below to view the Recruitment Week flyer and social media campaign.
Texas FCCLA Program Focus
The Projects Committee selected the following programs to be the emphasis for Texas FCCLA for the upcoming year: Power of One, Families First, FACTS, STOP the Violence, and Student Body. We hope that not only will you participate in these programs at your school, but also compete in the Spotlight on Programs at the Regional and State level!

The Achievement Committee made it their goal to have 1,000 Texas FCCLA members complete all five units of Power of One this year! Please help us reach our goal, and have members complete the form for recognition for Power of One at the Region Meeting.
New Website and Social Media
We have updated the Texas FCCLA website to hopefully create a more user-friendly feel. If you are having trouble locating something on the website, please use the search bar at the top of the homepage to help find your results. The new website should also be mobile device friendly.

Texas FCCLA has also switched the majority of our forms over to GoogleForms. This includes Project Recognition, Awards, Officer Application, Connection Team and the State Talent Show Application. Please let us know if you encounter any problems.

The "Deadlines Calendar" has now been published in multiple forms to help everyone stay aware of the various dates. The calendar can be printed in paper form, or can be added to your Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar. In addition, we have also created "Deadline Labels" that can be printed by you and added to your planner.

Texas FCCLA is also hoping to increase our presence on social media. Please help us by advertising our social media accounts to your members!

In addition to the public pages, we also have a private Facebook Group called Texas FCCLA Advisors to share resources and help answer questions.

Fall Leadership Workshops
Fall Leadership Workshops are a great opportunity for your FCCLA Chapter members to connect with other area FCCLA chapters. We currently have over 30 Fall Leadership Meetings scheduled across the state. Please check out the link below to find a workshop that is in your area. Many advisors use attending the Fall Leadership Workshop as an incentive to have their members join early!
Peer Education
We have moved the date of Peer Education back this year, in order to accommodate many school requirements for securing travel. The Peer Education conference will be held in Irving, Texas. Registration is $15 per person and now open, first come first serve. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity!
New Advisor Resource
We know that being a new(er) advisor can be overwhelming! In order to help you launch your chapter, we have compiled the "Getting Started with Texas FCCLA" resource. Please check it out, and let us know if there is anything we can assist you with.
Competitive Events Update
Texas FCCLA will continue using the National FCCLA Competitive Event rules and rubrics. We will email out when National FCCLA has posted the materials for this upcoming year. In the mean time, you can find an overview of the different competition on our website to introduce to your students.

The Competitive Events Committee voted to change the way sign-ups are handled for lead consultants. We will be sending out a link where advisors can go online and sign up to serve as a lead consultant at the various region meetings, as well as state. In addition, we will also be offering an on-line lead consultant orientation. More details will be sent out this fall.
Alumni and Associates
Our Alumni and Associate Council is working to build a database of former Texas FCCLA members who want to stay involved in the association. We will also be using this database to help find Nominating Committee members and Competitive Event Evaluators. Please help us spread the word by reaching out to your Alumni, or tagging them on Facebook, to complete the quick online membership application!
