Texas is inspiring!
Greetings!

With the hurricane preparedness week and the OTC at the beginning of the month, we've entered the month of May, time for an update from Texas!

We are looking for two very enthusiastic interns for two interesting research internships at our office in Houston. On our trade post, we have a vacancy for a Dutch native speaker. In our item ‘The Dutch in Texas’, 4-D Ag World shares their interesting entrepreneurial story and their vision on doing business in Texas. This month we feature the city of Waco, not known to many Dutch people, but with interesting industries and business opportunities. For our series on Renewable Energy in Texas, we have an article on the market for geothermal energy.

We can look back on a very successful King’s Day party with more than 200 new and familiar faces joining us in unity for the celebration of our King’s 50th birthday. May started with the OTC in Houston. With 46 exhibiting companies and more than 500 visitors from the Netherlands, the Dutch presence on the OTC was again remarkable. And of course the NBSO-Texas visited the Holland pavilion.

NBSO's Trading Post

A trading post was an establishment where the trading of goods and the exchange of information took place. The trading post of the NBSO serves the same purpose; connecting the Dutch in their demand and supply, knowledge sharing and the exchange of news and advice. Today on NBSO's trading post: an interesting job opportunity for a Dutch language teacher.

Renewable Energy
Houston- known as the Energy Capital of the world- is full of energy. Next to the traditional oil & gas industry, Texas has a lot to offer on the field of Renewable Energy as well. In our new series on renewable energy we are presenting the Texas market, with today:  geothermal energy as special focus.
NBSO Active: OTC
From May 1- May 4, the yearly Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) was hosted at the NRG stadium in Houston. Despite the current price of oil at $40 bbl, a lot of Offshore Technology Companies were still present at this event. Organized by the IRO (The association of Dutch suppliers in the oil and gas industry and offshore renewable industry), the Dutch presence was remarkable again this year.
NBSO active:  King's Day

On year on April 27th, we celebrated King's Day in Houston. It was a very successful, festive event, celebrated in unity with 200 new and familiar faces.  It was a proper King’s day party with people dressed up in our national color orange, Dutch music and Dutch food. Of course, there was also the opportunity to mix and mingle with our Dutch and non-Dutch business relations and meeting up with fellow Dutchies. Don’t forget to check out the pictures of this event.
