Thank You for Being Part of our Family

Facebook Photo Exhibition!
What is the part of yoga that explores community? Did you know that you are a part of our yoga family? What makes this family so amazing is that we are all doing our own thing, with different experiences and challenges but we practice being wherever we are TOGETHER. There is power in that. It's comforting to know that we all go through stuff, we all struggle. Also, we all enjoy moving through our bodies and finding meaning in life through this amazing practice. It's really heart-warming to see someone giving it their all in a yoga class. It encourages me to do the same not only in class but in everything in life.
Yoga means something different to each person. Each person has a unique expression of each posture. Yoga's not supposed to look any certain way; it is supposed to serve you. The job as instructors is to help suggest ways that might invite you to explore your own depths of the practice. Still, it's your practice, your self-discovery.
And while the practice is individual, yoga means union. We practice to first find the union of our own unique parts: body, mind, and spirit. And then we practice to explore the collective union of body/mind/spirit of our personal family, our community, our world. Yoga helps you find out how you belong to the world. Ultimately, you cannot understand the unity of the universe by yourself. And truly the work we do in our deep personal relationships and our families is a very deep practice of yoga.
So, as a celebration of the many unique individuals who practice yoga, each with their own expression, we at Prana Yoga want to invite and celebrate YOUR expression of yoga. We want you to practice with us, we want you to add your special spice to our mix. And here's a really fun way to do this. . . we want to see your unique interpretation of yoga with a Facebook Photo or video exhibition. It's easy. Think about what yoga means to you. Take a picture or video of something that speaks to yoga's diversity, its playfulness, its possibility of illumination, its dorkiness, whatever, and post it on our Facebook page along with everybody else's. It could be a picture of you doing your favorite pose, a picture of your friends all laughing, your kids or dog or garden or who knows what. BE CREATIVE! And share it with our whole yoga family. This will be really cool. Then keep coming back to our page to see what people have posted there. Like people's photos and feel free to post more than once. Do it today! No rules to this thing. We are excited to see what you'll post!
Thanks for being a part of our family!

Come Practice Kalari!
Taught by Jennifer Ellen
Coming in June
What is kalari?
- Kalari is a vigorous movement based practice from southern India.
- It incorporates elements of yoga, some martial arts and dance. Is has some longer held postures as well as flowing movements
- Kalari is challenging, but suitable for anyone used to moving their body regularly.
- Kalari is an excellent way to improve physical fitness, increase mental strength and facilitate emotional balance.
- No special equipment is necessary to practice Kalari, just wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in, bring a hand towel, and be prepared to sweat.
In this Primary Series workshop, students are introduced to the fundamental movements of the practice. We'll break down each element, repeat, and have plenty of time for questions. An excellent way to begin!
