Thank you for making Shreveport Day of the Democrats a success!
Greetings!
Thank you for joining us last Tuesday for our Shreveport Day of the Democrats! As you know, we have a lot of work ahead of us in rebuilding our party. We took a giant step towards that with our meetings on Tuesday. I was excited to see the participation by Democrats from across the region.
I want to thank the members of the Caddo Parish Democratic Executive Committee (DPEC) and their friends for their leadership and support in making this Day of the Democrats the great success that it was. We learned a lot on our visit about your community and about what you expect from your party - and it is your party!
You reminded us that even when cuts don't shut down programs, hardships result on the people and families who depend on those services, often in the form of longer waits to receive the services.
We understand that you want your party to fight back against the policies of Jindal and the Republicans that are not based on the needs of the people of your region and our state, but which are destroying essential public infrastructure. As I said repeatedly on Tuesday, the work of rebuilding our party starts in your community and in your parish. We need to work to ensure that our Democratic Parish Executive Committees become functioning political organizations that can be a reliable resource for candidates, as well as the voice for Democratic principles and positions on the important issues of the day. I encourage you to support the Caddo DPEC, and the DPECs in other nearby parishes.
