December 2016
Dear Colleague:
Rachelle A. Martin
As 2016 comes to a close, we have so much to be grateful for; many people and organizations to thank for a great year!  Our measure of success is the same as for many of you -  improving the lives of people living with a mental illness, their family members and care givers.

The 2016 NAMIWALK was one of our most successful; generating more than $105, 000 in funds to support programming and services that improve the lives of individuals and families in Franklin County.  We are grateful to the teams and individuals who worked to make the Walk a success!

We were so proud to honor several great local advocates during our 2016 Annual Meeting. The Charleta B. Tavares' Champion Award was presented to David Royer, CEO, ADAMH Board of Franklin County and Judge Robert Montgomery, Franklin County Probate Court. The Spirit of S.R. Thorward  Leader's Award was presented to Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare. The Teachers' Award for Excellence and Commitment was presented to Beverly Bennett. The Dr. Bernie Kuhr Going the Extra Mile Award went to Peg Morrison, NAMI Ohio. Tracee Black Fall was recognized with the Anne & David Robinson Shining Star Volunteerism Award. The CIT Award for Lifesaver of the Year went to James Ingles; Jennifer Mancini was recognized as the CIT Officer of the Year.

We look forward to an even better 2017!
Rachelle A. Martin, Executive Director
A Special Message from Karen Cousins, Family Mentorship Coordinator
Karen Cousins

We generally look forward to the holidays as a special time. When you are a family member, friend, or caregiver of a loved one with mental illness, things may be a little different. I hope your loved one is in a good place, is insightful about his or her illness, follows a treatment plan, lives independently or happily at home, and perhaps has a job that they like and can do well. That is my humble wish and prayer of hope for you.
