Highlights from the Week - Thank You!
DiscoverU first began as a single day in 2013, organized by career and college access staff with support from the
Road Map Project . It started as a simple idea of getting consistent career and college messages to students early, often and at the same time which would help increase a "beyond high school" culture.  We wanted all students to be encouraged to explore some sort of education pathway that would lead to a career they loved that would provide a quality standard of living.

Four years later, and DiscoverU is a full week of career and college exploration activities, providing resources, materials and support to seven school districts in the Road Map region and expanding to surrounding areas.

This year, we more than doubled the n umber of mentions of #DiscoverUWA on social
media from last year and generated 3.26 million impressions (number of times a post using #DiscoverUWA showed up on social media feeds). Community organizations, businesses, schools and other partners posted pictures in college gear, shared videos of people talking about education pathways and shared pictures of students celebrating their bright ideas for their bright futures - you can view just a fraction of  these posts in our Storify recap.

Challenge Seattle Partnership Expands Exploration Opportunities to More Students
The biggest addition to DiscoverU week 2016 was our partnership with Challenge Seattle, which allowed the opportunity for more students to get real-life exposure to careers by participating in worksite tours, career panels and visits from top executives to their schools. Read more about these activities on our website!
Stay Involved with DiscoverU
How can you take part in DiscoverU year round? There's a way for everyone to get involved. Businesses that are interested in hosting a worksite tour or participating in a career panel can indicate their interest using a form on the DiscoverU website. You can like and follow DiscoverU on social media and watch for more newsletters to stay up-to-date on plans for next year and year-round opportunities to get students engaged in career and college exploration! Even just having a conversation with a student you know about your career and education pathway can spark their interest in exploring what their future could be.
