Thanksgiving is here! The season of gratitude. There is so much to the thankful for as I am blessed to be surrounded by amazing people every day. When you come into the gallery you see my awesome staff and me but what you do not see is the support team that keeps this machine running. In gratitude, I introduce you to:
*John, my husband, right hand, and "head of
maintenance" keeping the lights glowing to highlight all the amazing artwork, wh
ich is a constant job. And after I have made a total disaster of the packing/shipping room he will go through and totally re-organize. Thank-you, John.
*Debbie Bookkeeper (we call her that so as not to confuse her with Debbie the gallery dog) is a saint. Inputting sales, paying taxes
and reconciling our accounts must be
a challenge especially when the gallery gets crazy and I forget to record purchases. Thank-you, Debbie.
*Freaking out with computer issues?!? Who are we going to call? Mark! A quasi geek, Mark, our hero, is here anytime we need him to bail us out of cyberspace horrors. Always there for us. Thank-you, Mark
*Denise compiles this newsletter after I
submit all the writings. I am sure I drive her crazy with my last-minute musings. She is patient and she is creative as month after month deadlines are paramount. Thank-you, Denise
You have most likely heard of the fires going on in Western North Carolina which are heartbreaking. Our incredibly dry fall, though amazing and still with leaves left to behold, lead to horrific fires engulfing our beautiful forests. Fortunately, we have not suffered with the fires in Haywood County though have had some haze and odor but nothing compared to surrounding counties. My heart goes out to communities that are evacuating. What would you take with you? A HUGE thank you goes out to the firefighters that have come from across the nation to rescue us from our plight.
The holiday season is here so check out what is going on in Waynesville. You can keep updated through our Facebook account. I am most grateful to YOU. Thank-you for your continued support as I wish you a blessed holiday season.

Art After Dark Card Making and Festive Fun
|
Margaret Roberts and friends will be on hand to help guests make holiday greeting cards for recipients of Meals on Wheels at Twigs and Leaves Gallery during Art After Dark Friday evening, December 2nd, 6-9PM. Over 200 cards are needed so we need everyone's help to meet the quota.
This is the last Art After Dark of the season and is sure to be a festive evening. The elves will be passing out special thank-you treats to our visitors.
If you are unable to attend, we will be making cards again on Saturday evening, December 10th during Night Before Christmas. Friday evening, as you stroll through the gallery's 150+ primarily regional artists, enjoy piano music by Amy Shahparast and delight in the savory hors d'eurves. |
Spotlight
Carole McCollum Watercolor Artist
|
Carole says "My art is a reflection of my deep love of the natural world and my desire to share that experience with others. In it I try to capture the beauty, complexity, honesty, and the intoxicating healing balm of nature. I want others to be able to feel the damp mist from a waterfall, smell the moss and soil and leaves, hear the sound of the creek make as it rushes over ancient rocks, and the birds as they call to one another high in the forest canopy. I want them to experience the wondrous depth in the eyes of the doe, the strength and gentleness of a bear with
her cubs, and the joy and peace that comes from the silence of being deep in a mountain forest."
Carole's inspiration comes from the mountains of Northeast Georgia, particularly Goshen Mountain in northern Habersham County. Her work is an expression of her deep appreciation of nature as it speaks to her soul.
As a way to show her deep love for nature and as part of her conviction of her purpose in life, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of her paintings goes to support nature conservation organizations. Come and see more of her work at Twigs and Leaves Gallery.
