With Atlanta's skyline as a backdrop, Thanks Mom & Dad Fund® Trustees recognized more than 60 programs serving Georgia's seniors with grant awards on February 14. The grantees are providing a diverse range of services to seniors which include h
ome-delivered meals, music therapy, outdoor exercise programs, and transportation.
The 2017-18 Thanks Mom & Dad Fund® grantees are Alchemy Sky Foundation (Atlanta), Atlanta Community Food Bank (Atlanta), Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (Georgia), I-Care (Decatur), and Georgia Radio Reading Services (Georgia).
An exciting new partnership with the Georgia Department of Human Services made it possible to award an additional 56 grants to promote program innovation and improvements at local senior centers throughout Georgia.
The afternoon event, held at the offices of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, began with a session on writing grant applications led by Lauren Jeong and Maria Najilis from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta followed by the guests' favorite speed networking exercise with everyone making connections, sharing stories, and exchanging business cards.
"The Thanks Mom & Dad Fund® is pleased to make grants addressing significant unmet needs which make a tremendous difference in the lives of older adults and caregivers," said Maureen Kelly, President of the Fund®. "We remain committed to identifying and filling service gaps across the state."
