thanksgiving imagery Our Thanksgiving class is always our most popular class of the year.  We are thankful for all of you, and enjoy preparing special thanksgiving offerings for our November class.  

thanksgiving cheese For the first course, we'll present various composed cheese pairings and sample appetizers that are easy to prepare and perfect for entertaining.  The second course will showcase Michael's (highly requested) turkey and gravy recipe with a luscious side dish that will make your guests truly thankful!  And the third course will highlight a new, festive holiday dessert product that we can't wait to share with you.  Of course we'll have chosen carefully selected wines that will pair perfectly with each course.  You can also place orders for your Thanksgiving wine at the class.

Each couple will leave with a gift bag featuring a bottle of wine and cheese (a $60 value). Call early, this class sells out quickly.

Vacherin Mont d'Or for the Holidays

Molto Formaggio is pleased to announce that once again this holiday season we have secured delivery of the famous Vacherin Mont d'Or cheese from Switzerland.  This cheese, considered by many cheesemongers to be the best cheese in the world, is only made 3 months out of the year.  Molto Formaggio is expecting two shipments this holiday season.  The first delivery of 36 one-pound pieces will arrive November 12.  Our final shipment of 48 one-pound pieces will arrive on December 10.   
 
Vacherin Mont d'Or dates back at least 500 years to the time of Louis XV and comes in a wooden box as it did centuries ago.  At their peak, they melt to a gooey, slightly runny consistency and are often eaten with a spoon.  They feature very creamy, moist paste with small holes, with a baconlike spicy flavor underlying their characteristic milkiness.  For a soft-ripened cheese, Vacherin Mont d'Ors offer a big, full flavor.  Each cheese is wrapped in spruce bark which holds the cheese together and imparts a wonderful flavor to the cheese.
 
We highly recommend that you make a reservation to reserve your Vacherin Mont d'Or.  We will notify you when the cheese has arrived, and you can pay for the cheese when it is picked up.  Rarely do we have extra pieces of this cheese left over for sale, but should there be any, it will be on a first come, first served basis.  Each piece is $39.95 (approximately one pound each).
 
Don't be left out!  This will impress friends and family for the holidays, and since the cheese is only made for the winter months, won't be available again until next November.
