The First Thanksgiving

Discover the history of Thanksgiving with this fun site for teachers and students.  Students can read historical letters, take a virtual tour of the Mayflower, and compare and contrast life today with that of 1620. Teachers will find Common Core-Aligned Lessons with teacher's guides for PreK to 8th Grade. The teaching resource section includes lesson plans and teaching extensions.

Plimoth Plantation*: You be the Historian
This is a great interactive site that allows the students to investigate the first Thanksgiving. They can answer questions such as: What happened at the first Thanksgiving? How many people were there? How long did it take? What really happened? What did they do besides eat? Students can perform investigations, and teachers can guide them with the teacher's guide provided on the site.  The guide has answers to frequently asked questions, understanding goals, and corresponding online activities.

*Plimoth Plantation is a living museum located in Plymouth, MA.
