DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hope you all enjoyed our November breakfast with speaker Bill Rubino, President and Partner at Panzano + Partners, who shared his insights on trends in the retail and luxury markets. As a marketing and management expert (clients include The Forbes Company), Mr Rubino threw out some dynamic and dramatic strategies for attendees to take away based on the fact that tech is changing the way we all do business and customers are looking for an experience as well as a product! Very engaging and with something to think about when going into the holiday shopping season! We look forward to seeing you at our December Breakfast on the 12th sponsored by Hedrick Brothers, with speaker Ken Himmel from The Related Group.

Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year!!!

2018 GUIDE - IT'S HERE!
The wait is over! Boxes are being loaded onto the delivery truck and should reach your doors before long. If you simply can't wait another minute, stop by the Chamber Office - boxes are easy to transport as they hold 16 copies. You have a choice of covers too, either the Chanel ice cream pop or the Hermès orange ice cream cone.

The Cover Artist, Becky Rosa, was born and raised in London. She began her career in fashion, but in 2015 began bringing her designs to life through sculpture, like the two photographed on our Palm Beach Guide. In December 2015, Rosa won the Bombay Sapphire Rush Arts Award. She plans to continue releasing sculptural and other mediums of work in line with her unique take on consumerism. To see more of Becky Rosa's art, click here.

We recommend you send copies to your seasonal customers with a welcome back note.

CYBER SECURITY
A glimpse into our February Programming Topic!
Total Digital Security sent this suggestion:
"Please be aware a particularly well-engineered fake email, purportedly from Netflix, warns of potential account suspension and urges an account update. Remember, an important rule-of-thumb related to your email box:
'WHEN IN DOUBT, DELETE IT OUT'
Don't fall for this scam or others of its kind; instead, use the vendor's website or call them directly for the information you need. The email is targeting over 110 Netflix subscribers..."

ARE YOU ADA CO MPLIA NT?
Really? Yes, the doorways are wider, there may be an automatic door-opener and other adaptations; however, is your website ADA-compliant? A recent trial found that Winn-Dixie's website must be updated for the blind.

In 2010, the US Department of Justice made changes to Title III of the ADA that requires websites to be accessible to those with disabilities. The DOJ received 6,391 complaints about this issue in 2016 - don't be one of these companies! Make sure you are ADA compliant. Some suggestions: add audio descriptions to your photos, include a skip navigation button to help text readers, use a simpler layout, include a caption for every graphic, and obtain feedback on sites's ease of use from people who have disabilities.

A day to remember at
Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa

Saturday, November 11 will be etched in the mind of Philip Brice for many years to come. While going about his work as Club Lounge Manager at the Forbes Five-Star Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa earlier this month, Philip’s day was anything but typical when a guest knocked on the kitchen door and said, “Philip, come quickly, a guest is choking.” Philip immediately returned to the lounge and sprung in to action and performed the Heimlich maneuver. The 81-year-old guest, whose son is a frequent guest of ours, was of course tremendously grateful for Philip’s quick work which saved her life. “You made my day,” she said with a grin from ear to ear.

Philip has worked for the resort for more than a decade and has come to know many of his guests and their families. In fact, guests return year after year because of the thoughtful and intuitive service Philip and his team deliver. Please be sure and introduce yourself to Philip the next time you stop in to the resort.
