This February 9th, 10th & 11th, 2018 is the twentieth anniversary of the World's Largest tattoo-art event, The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention, organized by hometown operators, Villain Arts

The official dates and location of the one and only Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention, February 9th, 10th and 11th, 201 8, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, was announced today by Troy Timpel,  VillainArts.com' s owner, and promoter. 

Since founding the Villain A rts organization, Troy has grown the original Philadelphia Tattoo Convention, created twenty years ago by American tattoo pioneer Crazy Philadelphia Eddie Funk, (RIP, 1936-October 2016), into a fifteen city and growing, national, tattoo exhibition of the finest professional artists, tattoo-art and memorabilia, independent and commercial industry suppliers and a curiosity themed carnival of sideshow performers.

For the past two decades, the one-of-a-kind exhibition has been making annual appearances in major cities nationwide, including Chicago, Baltimore, Cleveland, Milwaukee and Kansas  City, with first year shows in Denver and Miami in 2017, and two premieres confirmed for Houston and Atlanta this coming Spring. 

Among hundreds of Wo rl d-Famous tattooers, young and old, the show includes unique vendors with rare and unusual merchandise for subculture enthusiasts and tattoo art collectors.  Tattoo-artists representing diverse genres of f tattoo technique, design and traditions will convene over the three day weekend to tattoo clients and collectors and compete for trophies in annual tattoo-contests. 

Tattooed TV-Celebrities like Robert LaSardo will appear this year in Philadelphia as well as legendary independent film director, Lloyd Kaufman, to meet and greet with the public, and sign autographs or pose for pictures. Villain Arts Conventions always feature tattoo-competition Reality TV-Stars from Ink Master, Black Ink Crew, Tattoos after Dark  and more.  Unique merchand ise, like taxidermy, sign painting are always represented as well as body-jewelry vendors and representatives from animal rights organizations, like  PinUps for Pitbulls.

A rich entertainment schedule featuring a mainstage carnival of burlesque, aerial acts, The Monster Dolls,  Olde City Sideshow, Marlo Marquise,  a nd chainsaw wielding tattooed-man,  The Enigma.

Another marvel of the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention is the Ascension Suspension team, (New Mexico), who suspend flesh-hooked models and performers live at the event to the far reaches of the PA Convention Center's ceiling. 

Troy Timpel's large format paper and panel art will be on display, a larger than life collection of original mixed media paintings and prints that combine nautical themes and traditional or Japanese traditional tattoo styles with elements of sacred geometry and mandala patterns. The same  body of work will be on view this December 7-10, 2018 at Basel House for Art Basel, Miami 2-17). Timpel will be painting on site and also bringing with him a formidable traveling Tattoo Museum, a thorough legacy of tattoo-flash and acetate stencil collection for fine art and history enthusiasts.
