The court ruled that a woman who had been terminated due to testing positive for marijuana (which was prescribed to her) can sue her former employer for handicap discrimination. The court rejected the former employer's claim that she could not sue for handicap discrimination due to medical marijuana being a federally illegal drug. Read More

The University of California (UC) system has adopted a "ban the box" policy to remove criminal conviction history from the initial employment application process, which may become effective as early as October 2017. This new policy will prohibit the UC system from asking applicants about their previous criminal convictions on their initial employment application.  Read More
