As summer slowly comes to a close and fall begins, we may lose some of the physical
 momentum that we had during the long sunny days. It is not as easy to bike, swim and play sports outside as the days get shorter and the weather cooler. An easy fix to getting your body moving while inside is to just walk in place while watching that favorite fall TV series at least three times a week for 1/2 hour. During commercials, push yourself a little more with a brisker pace. Put on the Discovery Channel or Animal Planet for beautiful scenery or pass the time quickly laughing your way through The Big Bang Theory or Modern Family! Whatever your preference, just keeping moving!

What does ALS have to do with an ice bucket?

 

Unless you are trapped on a remote island, you may have seen or heard about the recent Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS that has been sweeping the social media outlets. Many people know Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) by it's more common name Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS attacks upper and lower motor neurons and causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord. It generally strikes people aged 40-70 years of age and the average life span after diagnosis is 2-5 years. ALS is a debilitating disease with no cure.
