th
Virginia Annual Conference: It’s More Than a Meeting
Does Annual Conference include mandatory business reports? Sure it does. Does Annual Conference include presentation of awards? Yes, in fact, a ministry on our own district is receiving the prestigious Denman evangelism award. But this 236
th
session of the Virginia Annual Conference will include so much more. This Virginia Annual Conference gathering will feature a number of “must see” events. This gathering of the Virginia Annual Conference will be grounded in biblical principles, will include powerful worship, will include hands on mission ministry throughout the city of Hampton (the Great Day of Service), and more exciting agenda events. Bishop Lewis will help us maintain order and will help us transition throughout our time into spiritually uplifting moments all guided by the Holy Spirit. But you don’t have to be present in Hampton to experience the excitement, the worship, the fellowship, or the celebrations like the Ordination and Licensing Service.
Delegates and participants at Annual Conference will be able to start each day centered in prayer and through Holy Communion. We’ll recognize those who have passed away and claimed the promise of resurrection, we’ll recognize the retiring clergy who collectively have served an impressive number of years, and we’ll be reminded of vital ministries as we watch videos called Glory Sightings.
Whether you have time during the days of June 15
th
-17
th
, or moments in the evening, I encourage you to tune into the Virginia Annual Conference. You can do so by logging onto the Conference web page at
www.vaumc.org
and then follow the link to view the live stream or click the link in the article below. When you tune in, you’ll see all the ways we are living our Annual Conference theme of “Servant Leaders Making a Difference.” We begin at 2 pm on Friday the 15
th
and conclude the Annual Conference on Sunday at 11 am. For all the folks who will be in their home church on Sunday morning, be sure to look out for the video recordings of Annual Conference.
