Ministry Partnership: Together in
Disciple Making (part 2)
"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor."
Ecclesiastes 4:9
Hi Friends,
I’m pleased to share that the RRD and Discipleship Ministries are a step closer to the Covenant part of our next steps! In order to make the Partnership Covenant document an agreement of value to all of us we need your feedback. As your leaders discuss the Bishop’s goal of creating a Step by Step Disciple making Plan, what tools, help, and resources does your congregation need?
This is Not an rhetorical question, so the RRD leadership would love to have reply emails on this question. It would be great if you could reply using
RRDistrict@vaumc.org
no later than Monday, August 13
th
.
We’d also like to know if these partnership goals would work for your church:
1)
Help creating a Step by Step Disciple making process (as requested by Bishop Lewis);
2)
Resources, tools, and training to reach more folks in your community, particularly more young people;
3)
Tools to increase your EVC metrics like worship attendance, community outreach, and tools to lead people into deeper relationships with Jesus Christ;
After we hear from you, we’ll send a list of the disciple making resources and tools we need to the Discipleship Ministries staff. Until then, please plan to attend the
Intentional Disciple Fair on September 29, 2018 at Trinity King George UMC
and the
Lay Servant Ministry Training
on
October 5-6 at Regester Chapel UMC (Stafford).
Rev. Jeff Campbell will lead an Advanced Lay Servant class on Intentional Discipleship Making.
Some of us met Rev. Campbell, the Executive Director of Conference Relationships and Discipleship Ministries on March 24
th
when he led our first district wide introduction to Intentional Disciple making and the “See All the People” resources. Please note that Registration for the Lay Servant Ministry Training is required (see below).
Remember, please drop us a note today about what tools, help, and resources you need!
