Hello Brown Families,

It is hard to believe that it is already September!  With fall approaching and the weather temperature unpredictable, please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for outdoor activities.  We continue to have outdoor recess throughout the fall season and into winter.

Please be reminded of our transportation change procedure.  If you are going to change your child's transportation on any given day, you will need to call the front office at Brown Elementary School and we will process the change for you.  It is critical that you also call in changes for any clubs for which your child may be staying.

I would also like you to take special note of our Tardy PolicyWe had previously shared information in the Barker about the attendance policy for the corporation, which can be found in the Elementary School Student Handbook.  At this time, we wanted to address the issue of tardies.  All students need to be at school on time (doors open at 8:30am) and stay at school for the entire day so that we can teach them the skills necessary to meet grade level standards. Arriving on time for school each day enables children to get their day off to the best start possible and ensures that valuable instruction time is not lost.  Although we certainly understand that sometimes there are going to be appointments that cause a child to be late or leave early from school, our goal is to prepare all children for the next grade level and they need to be here at school for that to happen.  Please bring a doctor's note to the school office when your child is tardy due to an appointment.  These tardies will be excused.  Thank you for your support in the education of your children.

Lastly, we have a large pile of clothing that is stacking up on our lost and found table outside of the cafeteria.  Please remind your child to check for any lost items.

Wednesday, 9/23 - "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" - dress as your future profession

Yankee Candle Sale Begins September 11th
The 15th Annual Yankee Candle fundraiser for the Brownsburg Education Foundation (BEF) is around the corner.  On Friday, September 11th, each student will receive a catalog to share with family and friends. The best and easiest way to order is online and you will find the instructions for sending the link for online ordering to your family and friends in the packet. Online orders will be delivered directly to the one ordering by mail in 2-3 weeks. If the paper order form is used, the order form and money need to be returned by September 28th to Reagan. You will have to pick up and distribute anything ordered using the paper order form on November 10th & 11th at the BCSC Maintenance Facility at 550 Airport Road.  Proceeds from this fundraiser go toward teacher educational grants and student scholarships that are given out each year by the BEF whose mission is to encourage and support creativity, innovation, and excellence that will enhance the educational community of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation.

Hearing Screening Information
Indiana State law requires students in grades 1, 4, 7, and 10 to have their hearing screened. All kindergarten students and all students new to BCSC will be tested as well. The Brownsburg Speech and Language Pathologists will be conducting hearing screenings at each school.
Students who do not pass their hearing screenings will receive paperwork notifying you of the results. (If your child does not pass their hearing screening, you will be notified of pass/did not pass results when a re-screening is done as well.)
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's hearing.

DOG DASH 2015

We are getting closer! Dog Dash 2015 is almost here!

By now your child has brought home their packet with information and donation envelope.  Please know that nothing needs to be turned in until September 21st!  IF you would like to turn your donations in early, you may do so, but nothing is due until Monday September 21st.  When your child does turn their envelope in, PLEASE make sure to have their name and teacher marked clearly on the outside so that both they and their teacher are able to be marked correctly for prizes!

Something new this year is we have added the option of donating online! This will save everyone the hassle of collecting donations from family and friends with a few easy clicks!  Online donations may be made to our Brown PSG PayPal account and using our e-mail [email protected].  If making an online donation, please make sure to put in the notes who the donation is for and teacher.  We are hoping to make this easier for friends and family that are not close by.

If you would like to volunteer during the event, please follow the link below to sign-up.  We have something for everyone throughout the day.  Any time you are able to give is appreciated!  Anyone wanting to volunteer for this event must have a background check on file.

Join us for a fun week of getting ready for the big day on Friday with spirit days!

Wednesday September 9th - Hawaiian Day
Thursday September 10th - Silly Sock Day

Students can get creative and decorate socks or wear fun ones for this yearly Brown tradition! Winners will be chosen in their classrooms that morning and sent to the front office to receive a prize!
