Get Your Flu Shot: Cases continue to rise in Kentucky
As we approach Commencement Convocation and Founder’s Day, it is important that we stay focused on the urgent task at hand.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has sounded the alarm as Kentucky continues to receive record-breaking numbers of COVID-19 cases contracted among our friends and neighbors. Governor Beshear emphasized the importance of social distancing, wearing a mask and getting a flu shot. The more people who receive a flu shot, the less likely our hospitals and health care systems will get overburdened.

Kentucky State University President M. Christopher Brown II has arranged for students to receive their flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. under the KSU tent near the Mary L. Smith Clock Tower for free. Flu shots administered by CVS will be available for free from 10 a.m. until noon for all employees. Additionally, employees may receive their flu vaccination on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. under the KSU tent near the clock tower.

Wild Health will administer COVID-19 tests from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, under the KSU tent near the clock tower. Please register for testing. Help stop the spread by getting tested and vaccinated this fall.

Governor Beshear also recently announced that Kentucky would begin to more aggressively enforce the Commonwealth’s mask mandate at businesses and restaurants. If you are leaving campus, you must continue to practice good social distancing and wear a mask.

As a campus and as an international community of Thorobreds, we are approaching two special events that give us every reason to celebrate. Let us not dampen the excitement of those occasions by recklessly endangering the lives of those around us. Let us shine as an example from up on the Hill to the rest of the Commonwealth around us.
Next COVID-19 testing date is Oct. 13; free flu shots available
The next COVID-19 testing date for the campus community is Tuesday, Oct. 13. Flu shots administered by CVS will be available for free from 10 a.m. until noon. Wild Health will administer COVID-19 tests from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Help stop the spread by getting testing and vaccinated this fall.
