Here at the California Coastal Commission's Public Education Program we are hard at work planning the 33rd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. Did you know there are going to be more than 950 individual sites this year, in almost every California county (55 out of 58), from the Sierra to the sea? Something for everyone, so check out our online map, find your site, and mark your calendar for September 16th.
How do you connect with the California coast when you're not cleaning the beach or "Doing the Whale Tail"?
Please share - we'd love to hear and feature your stories! Email: [email protected]

Friends of the Dunes recently completed an interesting two-part project with help from their
Whale Tail grant. In the first part, the staff updated the
Bay to Dunes educational field trip program so its curriculum is now more strongly connected with California's new Next Generation Science Standards and the state's Education & the Environment Initiative. It now also includes a more thorough evaluation process. In the second part, members of the
Wiyot Tribe collaborated to add Wiyot vocabulary and cultural history to the Bay to Dunes program, and to create a display for all ages at the
Humboldt Coastal Nature Center.
Did you receive a tax extension? Don't forget to Check The Coast!
