Happy Friday!

I hope this newsletter finds you well and that your child was able to transition back into the school routine pretty easily after spring break.  My own children have been a little tired this week, and it seems like some of our students have been too.  My hope is that your family will use the weekend to rest to get ready for next week.  We have many events planned for the next few weeks of school.  It is sure to be busy.

Commit to Be Fit will be taking place next week during PE.  We would love to have all of our parents come to PE with their children and experience the different fitness activities the students participate in.  Please remember that you will need to have a background check on file in order to be able to participate.

Also, next Friday our PSG will be having our Carnival and Silent Auction event.  There are many fun games for our students to play and even some that adults would like.  I want to see as many of our families here on Friday, April 15 starting at 5:30.  Please come for a little bit or come for the whole evening.

The next round of ISTEP testing will begin the week of April 18th.  Our students are so prepared and ready for this test.  I want to thank our students and teachers for the work they've done this year.

Finally, I want to celebrate those students who clipped up to red.  I am so proud of all of our students but especially proud of these students for the behavior choices they've been making.  These students include:

Colten Kelly
Kennedy Hordge
Londyn Brozak

Have a super weekend!

Nurse Notes
On Wednesday, May 25th , Smile Care Indiana, the mobile dentists will be coming to our school! This program is attended to provide dental services to students without regular dental care.  If your child has not been seen by a dentist in the last 6 months, please consider using the in-school program!  Permission forms will be sent home soon.  If your child was seen back in the fall by the Mobile Dentists, you do not need to fill out another permission form.  Dental disease results in 51 million lost school hours every year.  Let's keep our kids at Cardinal learning and in school!  For more information, see www.mobiledentists.com or call 1-888-833-8441.
Counselor's Character Corner
The character trait for the month of April is Acceptance.  Acceptance means recognizing and showing appreciation for our differences.  It is important to recognize things that make others around you special.  It is also important to show acceptance to others.  Talk to your children about how they can show acceptance toward others.  Could they ask someone that is playing alone to join them at recess?  Can they help someone that is struggling to do something on their own?   Could they talk with someone they don't know well in class and make a new friend?  Everyone is special and YOU can help them feel that way.

Relay for Life Update
Dear Cardinal staff, students, and families,

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is an event designed to raise much needed money for cancer research and support, raise awareness about cancer, celebrate life for cancer survivors, and remember those who have been lost to cancer.  So many of us have had our lives affected by cancer in some way, and as a breast  cancer survivor, I am especially passionate about this event.

Save the Date:  Brownsburg's Relay for Life- May 21st 2015 from 9:30 am to 12:30 am!  Cardinal hour is at 11 am!

Come see the 5th grade drumming ensemble, Orff, and Cardinal Kicks Perform and dunk Mr. Gianfagna and Mrs. Miller in the dunk tank!

Register now:  www.relayforlife.org/brownsburgin  and sign up under Team Cardinal Elementary!

Registration is free, however any individual that signs up is encouraged (not required!) to participating in fundraising, planning, and/or attending the event- even just a little bit of it, not necessarily the whole 18 hours!  We want you on our team!  If you raise $100, you become a member of the Hope Club and receive a t-shirt!

If you know a survivor, encouraged them to sign up!  They can be treated to a free survivor's dinner, walk the survivor's lap and even have free pampering at the mobile spa!  Survivors- I know you are out there!

This year's theme is "games" and we have chosen Minecraft as our campsite theme-
" Creating a world without cancer!"

Currently: Ranked #3 out of 26 teams
Fundraising total: $4,561.11  (goal is $10,000)
Team members: 21 (goal is 50)
