Happy Friday!

We had an awesome week at Cardinal.  Our students and teachers have been working so hard, and there have been many celebrations about the work our students are doing and the great friends they are being to one another.  Thank you for the support you provide your child every day.  We have several upcoming events in February and March for our families.  Please be sure you read through the newsletter and update your calendars so that you and your child can participate in these events.

The 2016 Corporation Art Show will be held this February.  Student work from The Early Childhood Center, Brown, Cardinal, Delaware Trail, Eagle, Reagan, White Lick, East Middle, West Middle, and Brownsburg High School is on display from now through March 1st with a formal reception on February 25th from 6-8 p.m.

Finally, I want to celebrate those students who clipped up to red.  I am so proud of all of our students but especially proud of these students for the behavior choices they've been making.  These students include:

Gavin Coon
Rylee Schrader
Ethan Ford
Shelby Hanson
Lauren Johnson
Zachary Williams
Ashton Perry
Dylan Planalp
Londyn Brozak
Samantha Carmen

Have a super weekend!

Counselor's Character Corner
Our character trait for the month of February is PERSEVERANCE.  Perseverance means that you never give up and keep working hard.  "You grow stronger from your challenges.  You learn a lot when things don't happen the way you want" (Author: Carol Burnett).  Talk to your children about the necessity of working hard to accomplish goals and give them examples of times when you or they have achieved a goal.  When the going gets tough, encourage your children to stick with what they are doing, don't give up easily.
Yearbook Orders due by February 29th!

SOCIAL HEALTH INFORMATION
Parents of 4th and 5th Grade Students - Each 4th and 5th grade student will participate in a Social Health Program during the month of March.  This program outlines the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty.  Students will be shown appropriate films for their age group followed by a question and answer period.  Parents are invited to preview these films at the Administration Office located at 310 Stadium Drive (Please enter through Door #7 on the back side of the building) on Tuesday, February 16 at 6:30 pm.  The preview will be facilitated by Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup and Health Services Supervisor Melissa Smith.  If you have questions about the content of these films, please contact your child's school nurse.
Community Engagement Session Feb 24, 6:30pm
Thank you to those who attended the first Community Engagement Session in January.  Brownsburg is a great community with great schools that can come together to find solutions to accommodate growth.  CLICK HERE to review materials from the first meeting and see dates for future meetings.

Brownsburg Community School Corporation Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup and Brownsburg High School Principal Bret Daghe visited our middle and elementary schools recently to share information about the many opportunities your student will be able to experience as they move forward from elementary to middle school to high school. Donate your used shoes
RECYCLE HEART AND SOLE!
As you are clearing out closets and making donations to Goodwill, please save your USED SHOES to donate to Recycle Heart and Sole! Cardinal has collected the most shoes in Hendricks County for the past number of years, and we hope to maintain our record in 2016! Please ask family members, neighbors and friends to collect as well. Hendricks County Solid Waste Management collects the recycled shoes to distribute to needy families in Indiana. It is FREE giving and CLOSET CLEANING all in ONE!

Please have your child bring in the shoes between February 8-12th. All shoes (including slippers, winter boots, athletic shoes and heels) will be accepted.  No skates, please.
