Happy Friday!

The countdown is officially on, and we only have 14 days of school left!  I truly can't believe how quickly this school year has gone.  We had another great week at Cardinal though.  The 4th and 5th graders finished up their ISTEP testing, and our 4th graders enjoyed their field trip to the State Museum and the State House.  We are also ending the week with some sunshine!  Throughout the next 14 days we have many activities and celebrations.  Please make sure your calendar is up-to-date with these events so you don't miss anything.

DADS!  We need your help.  While Mother's Day is this weekend, next Friday we will have our Muffins with Moms event before school.  Our PSG needs dads to volunteer to help serve the muffins, run the book fair, and clean up so that the moms can enjoy the morning with their children.  You can sign up to volunteer by going to: www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054aaaab29a3fa7-muffins1.

Next week students who completed all of the reading challenges this year will be attending their pool party celebration.  If your child is attending, please be sure you read through the reminder that was sent home this week.  It contained the details you and your child need to know.

Another way we are supporting our Relay for Life team is through our Mini-Mall that will take place on Friday afternoon.  If your child is planning to purchase something at the mini-mall, you should have already sent in money for this.  If you haven't, Monday is the last day to send in money so that we have time to organize the tickets students will receive as their "purchasing" money.

Finally, I want to celebrate those students who clipped up to red.  I am so proud of all of our students but especially proud of these students for the behavior choices they've been making.  These students include:

Laila Sanders
Carter Miller
Grace Grabowski
Reese McCroskey
Kaydince Schultz
Lucas Mroz
Dylan Planalp
Abby McCarty
Marlee Duncan
Bryce Kapitan
Adam Hill

Have a super weekend!

Nurse Notes
Dear Parents,
Mobile Dentist forms are being sent home with your child/children.  The Mobile Dentists will be visiting on Wednesday, May 25th.  If your child sees a dentist regularly, please disregard the form and recycle it.  If your child has not seen a dentist in more than 6 months, please consider using the Mobile Dentist program.  My school clinic is turned into the Mobile Dentist office for the day and I am able to assist the staff and reassure students as they visit.  Time out of the classroom is kept to a minimum.  I've worked closely with the program for the last few years and they do a wonderful job with the students.  A few important points:
*    If your child has been seen in the last 6 months for a regular dental check-up and cleaning, they will not be seen even with a completed form.
*    If you filled out a form in the fall and your student saw the Mobile Dentist you do not need to re-submit a new form.
*    If you decide to use the Mobile Dentists, please fill the form out completely.  The staff is unable to see students if they can't verify the dental insurance or Medicaid.
*    If you do not have insurance and need to pay by check, please turn it in with your form.
*    Forms will be accepted through next week!

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Counselor's Character Corner
The character trait for the month of May is citizenship. Citizenship is choosing to act in ways that benefit everyone. Talk to your child about ways they can make their home, school, and community a better place by displaying the character trait of citizenship (cleaning up at home, not littering, recycling, obeying traffic rules, working together, using kind words and having good manners, and respecting authority). "No one can do everything, but everyone can do something!"

Dear Cardinal staff, students, and families,

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is an event designed to raise much needed money for cancer research and support, raise awareness about cancer, celebrate life for cancer survivors, and remember those who have been lost to cancer.  So many of us have had our lives affected by cancer in some way, and as a breast  cancer survivor, I am especially passionate about this event.

Save the Date:  Brownsburg's Relay for Life- May 21st 2015 from 9:30 am to 12:30 am!  Cardinal hour is at 11 am!  Come see the 5th grade drumming ensemble, Orff, and Cardinal Kicks Perform and dunk Mr. Gianfagna and Mrs. Miller in the dunk tank!

Register now:  www.relayforlife.org/brownsburgin  and sign up under Team Cardinal Elementary!  Registration is free, however any individual that signs up is encouraged (not required!) to participating in fundraising, planning, and/or attending the event- even just a little bit of it, not necessarily the whole 18 hours!  We want you on our team!  If you raise $100, you become a member of the Hope Club and receive a t-shirt!

If you know a survivor, encouraged them to sign up!  They can be treated to a free survivor's dinner, walk the survivor's lap and even have free pampering at the mobile spa!  Survivors- I know you are out there!

This year's theme is "games" and we have chosen Minecraft as our campsite theme-
"Creating a world without cancer!"
Currently: Ranked #3 out of 29 teams
Fundraising total: $5,294.90  (goal is $10,000)
Team members: 34 (goal is 50)
We need TONS of volunteers to help at the Relay!  Sign up today at:

Sincerely,
