Our character trait for November and December is COMPASSION: being kind to others. During classroom guidance lessons, we frequently talk about the importance of thinking of others. If we were the only one in our world, we could just think about what we want and be a "just me" person! However, since we-staff, students, and parents-are part of a larger school community, it doesn't work to be "just us" people. Compassion means we are putting ourselves in others' shoes and trying to understand what they are feeling, then doing something kind to help. During the week, make a point of recognizing when your child shows compassion!
BODY SAFETY We will be having our annual body safety lessons in December. The program consists of age appropriate lessons that will be taught to your child by the elementary school counselor. Unfortunately, recent counts show that sexual abuse of children takes place more often than we would like to believe. As a result, our children need to be taught assertiveness and self-protection skills to prevent such tragedies. This program is presented in a non-threatening, informative way. Parents, please check the E-Friday Folder for important information regarding body safety and how to discuss this topic with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Miller at 852-1036 ext. 1218.
