The QPI Nevada Brand
Foster parents nurture children who have experienced trauma and provide a safe, loving and healing environment in which the children can thrive. They are parenting partners who honor and support family relationships. Foster parents are dedicated, informed and committed advocates for children. They are instrumental and fully supported members of the child and family team. Great foster parents make a difference for children and families in our community.

QPI's Don't Say "No"
Before You Know Series:
Remember, It's a FAMILY Vacation

by Anne-Marie Abruscato, LCSW

In this month's installment of the Don't Say "No" Before You Know series, Anne-Marie Abruscato of Mojave Adult, Child and Family Services outlines the value and importance of treating children in care as your own:

Every time you are able to bring a foster child on vacation, you are doing something amazing! You are giving them a "real-world" education about geography
by showing them other places...beyond all of this, you
are also communicating to them that they are important
and that they are a part of something bigger than themselves -- your family.

More Than 80 Children Find Forever Homes on Adoption Day

Celebrating A Family For Every Child was the theme for this year's annual Adoption Day celebration, held Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the Juvenile Justice Center Gymnasium. More than 80 children were adopted by 45 families throughout the day. Of those 80 children who were adopted, 18 were a part of sibling groups.

Dave Courvoisier of KLAS-TV served as emcee and Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy Saitta delivered the keynote speech. The event was co-sponsored by DFS with its partners: The Adoption Exchange, CASA, Olive Crest and Nevada Youth Care Providers.

Because Every Child
Deserves a Family

In keeping with our Adoption Day theme of Celebrating a Family for Every Child, the Caregiver Courier has featured children who are legally free for adoption over the past few months. We encourage you to read more about these children. They are looking for families that will provide unconditional love and security in a safe environment.
