June 2013

Gettin' Ready for the Summer!

For the past month The Carpetbag Brigade has been at the very beautiful and inspiring location of Arcosanti, built by visionary architect Paolo Soleri.
We have been presenting the performances for our Bi Cultural Road Show and preparing our new cross-cultural collaboration "Dios de la Adrenalina" with Nemcatacoa Teatro, Verbo*Bala and Hojarasca.
This is going to be a very busy year for us and we hope to cross your path at some point during our Bi Cultural Road Show.

June Presentations!
Dios de la Adrenalina
The Keystone production of the Bi Cultural Road Show includes members of The Carpetbag Brigade, Hojarasca, Nemcatacoa Teatro and Verbo*Bala.
Illuminating the undercurrents and dynamics of globalization Dios de la Adrenalina examines the collectivizing of trauma through hidden economic relationships and the impact of contraband commerce on the human nervous system. This unique cross cultural collaboration with live music, spoken word and acrobatic stilts is a testament to the power of art to acknowledge and transcend differences through creativity.

The Bi Cultural Road Show  is made possible by support from the NEA, The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.

Creating both spectacle-based dramatic outdoor perormances and intimate indoor black box self devised works, the mission of The Carpetbag Brigade is to increase the quality, scope and impact of live performance culture through performer training, community outreach and aesthetic presentation. By utilizing performance art and its pedagogy as a tool to transcend language, class, and genetic heritage we seek to create bridges of understanding by sharing our craft locally and globally in diverse urban and rural settings.
