Happy July from your Chamber team! Summer is in full swing and many of our members are hard at work making sure there is no shortage of activities for you to enjoy

In addition to planning our third major event for 2018
(the Membership Harvest Celebration- stay tuned for big updates coming your way!), the Chamber team has been working this summer to make sure all of our members are utilizing the various programs, activities, and events that are offered year round, including:
Business After Hours Networking Mixers: July marked the half way point for the 2018 Mixer series! These events are always held on the second Wednesday of each month from 5-7 pm and allow guests to interact with other area businesses and contacts, while also getting the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at the monthly hosts' property!
(be sure to join us on 8/8/18 for our next Mixer at the Fairfield Inn & Suites- see below for details!)

The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based organization that strives to tell the stories of its members and partner organizations, while promoting their people, places, and products. This is accomplished in a variety of ways- one of which, by sharing information with our other members and partners and acting as an advocate to better gain exposure and awareness for each. We are proud to announce a new feature to our Member News: The Member Spotlight. This new feature will include highlights and showcasing a different business, helping to tell their story, and introduce their people, products, and place of business.
This month, we would like to introduce..... CQ Sign Co.!

No matter what type of sign you may need, Peter Miller can get the job done.
Miller has been designing, constructing and installing signs at his business, Geneva-based Clemen Quality Sign Co., for more than 20 years.
The company -which Miller is re-branding as CQ Sign Co. - is located on Patterson Avenue and has been a
member of the
Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce since 1998.
Miller has created signs for not only the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce (at right), but for a number of other Chamber members, as well. They include Bagels ~ Cakes, the City of Geneva, Finger Lakes Gifts & Lounge, Geneva Bicycle Shop, Ports Café, Red Jacket Orchards and Vonnie's Boathouse.
In addition to creating traditional signage, Miller has designed and created signs on some unique structures, such as a water tank in Clyde, Wayne County. He also does sign work on several billboards he owns and rents along New York state highways.
After working in the industry in Rochester, Miller got his start at business ownership in 1980 when he and
his brother started their own sign business in Newark.
"We thought we would make a go of it," he said.
When he started his own business in Geneva, Peter Miller used his middle name, Clemen, for the company's name.
Miller, who describes himself more as a craftsman than an artist, has seen the industry change over the years. It has transitioned from hand drawings to computer generated design.
One of the newer techniques he most enjoys is creating 3D signage, such as the Finger Lakes Gifts & Lounge waffle sign (at left), located at the store's Linden Street entrance.
The best part of the job is seeing his customers pleased with the final product.
"Knowing they are happy is the most rewarding part of the job," Miller said.
