Member/Community Events
Hair Cuttery will celebrate the grand opening of its newest salon in Wilmington on Friday, April 10th at 9:00 a.m.  The new salon is located at 206 Ballardvale Street in the Ballardvale Marketplace.  As part of the grand opening festivities, Hair Cuttery will be teaming up with the Wilmington Educational Foundation.  From April 10th to May 8th, five percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Wilmington Educational Foundation in recognition of the outstanding work they do for the community.  A check will be presented to the organization at a ribbon cutting ceremony held on May 19th.

Teen Night at the Burbank YMCA

Burbank YMCA in Reading 

Free dinner, an organized activity, and the gym and wellness center will be open for use. Supervised by YMCA staff, Teen Night is FREE for ANY teenager (members and nonmembers) ages 12 and up! Town Wide Yard Sale

For those wishing to hold a yard sale at their home, the $15 application fee buys:

  • Lots of free advertizing
  • Two signs for your lawn
  • Participation in a community event
  • Applications available at wilmlibrary.org

A map of yard sale locations will be available at the library and on their website June 10th.

Chamber Scholarships

The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that once again five scholarships are available to Wilmington residents who will be graduating from high school this year. The Chamber is also donating $500 to the "Sean Collier Scholarship Fund".

Proceeds from the Chamber's Annual Road Race each September fund these on-going scholarships and donations.

Applications are available at WHS and Shawsheen Tech Guidance Offices, the Chamber office at 226 Lowell St., or here.  Deadline 5/1/15.

A round of applause to Daniel Esdale and Bob Esdale from Commonwealth Financial Network for recently being named FIVE STAR Wealth Managers for 2015 based on overall client satisfaction. Less than 6% of wealth managers in the Boston area were named to the 2015 FIVE STAR Wealth Manager list.

At the March American Bankers Association (ABA) Government Relations Summit in Washington, DC, Reading Cooperative Bank President and CEO, Julieann Thurlow, was among 12 ABA members who received this year's "Excellence in Advocacy" award for "going above and beyond" in advocating for the banking industry.

In addition to a well attended "Chamber Connections Breakfast" and "Multi-Chamber Business Card Exchange" in February, below are highlights from other recent Chamber events.

 

 8th ANNUAL COMEDY NIGHT
Another successful Chamber FUNdraiser. 250 guests got a lift this winter enjoying a night of much needed laughs at the Shriners!
  
WILDCAT PRIDE DAY
Nancy Vallee & WHS Admin.
Chamber teamed up with WHS Admin. to host a community celebration to honor the opening of the new WHS. Chamber members; Howie Law Office, Heav'nly Donuts, Pearle Vision, Winbrook, Analog Devices, Reading Coop, IM Wireless and Wilm. Health Care Center sponsored the "Wildcat Ice Sculpture" which was a BIG hit with the students. Red Heat Tavern joined in on the fun that sunny Sunday serving up their famous chili.
 
54th ANNUAL MEETING

Newly Elected Chamber President
About 50 members attended our 54th Annual Luncheon hosted by Windsor Place of Wilmington.  The Chamber Director & President provided an impressive review of 2014 Chamber successes especially regarding financials and increased website traffic.  Carmon Cunningham ended his 2 year term as President and handed the gavel over to 2015-2017 President, Audrey Kelly who introduced the entire Board of Directors.  Lorena Prime, Productivity Expert from Clearly Organized, finished up the meeting with a 30 minute presentation that included time management tips and tactics.  Thank you to meeting sponsors:  Bill Dube Hyundai, Hair Cuttery, Home Instead Senior Care, and Windsor Place.

Once again the Chamber co-sponsored Candidates Night which provided Board of Selectmen, School Committee, and Town Moderator candidates the opportunity to speak to residents on key issues prior to the election. Town elections set for 4/25.
