Decorate a Wreath & Make a Difference!
The Chamber Staff encourages you to join with Express Employment Professionals in supporting Wreaths Across America through the 4th Annual Christmas Wreath Decorating Contest.  Express Employment Professionals invites any companies and organizations in Cherokee County to participate.  Members of the Express team will be distributing pre-requested wreaths later this month. They will pick up your decorated wreath the second week in December.  All entries will be posted on the Express Employment Professionals' Facebook page where viewers can vote for their favorite with the winner receiving $100.  On December 16th, as part of the National Wreaths Across America event, they will be laying the wreaths at the grave sites of fallen heroes in Cherokee County's Georgia National Cemetery.

The UGA SBDC at KSU's popular " Launch Your Business " class series is now conveniently available online. Taught from a new business owner's perspective, these classes are targeted toward anyone wishing to start a business and/or business owners whose companies have been operating for less than two years. The topics covered in each course are based on specific needs that new business owners often face.
Join Google Certified Instructor and UGA SBDC at KSU Area Director, Drew Tonsmeire, for this comprehensive online series consisting of four course modules covering essential information for new business owners:
  • Part 1, Starting a Business: includes topics such as market research, legal structure, estimating start-up costs and cash flow projections, and more.
  • Part 2, Financing a Business: illustrates step-by-step how to prepare a winning package for any type of financial assistance.
  • Part 3, Marketing a Business: includes information on how to maximize your marketing dollars and enhance your profitability by incorporating simple industry secrets of effective marketing in public advertising and low-cost social media.
  • Part 4, Writing a Business Plan: educates new business owners on what it takes to develop a professionally written business plan.
Registration is available online at $29 per class or $100 for the entire series. Once purchased, online access is available for one year. Materials included in the course consist of a "Starting Your Georgia Business" workbook, a business plan template, financial projection spreadsheet examples, and instructional documents. The Chamber is pleased to announce that nominees are currently being sought for the prestigious First Citizen of Cherokee County Award. The 43rd Annual First Citizen will be announced during the 47th Annual Meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center.

The distinct title of First Citizen of Cherokee County is bestowed upon a man or woman who has resided in the county for a minimum of five years and has shown significant meritorious service to his or her community through family, civic and/or religious involvement. A panel of out-of-town judges carefully reviews the accomplishments of each applicant and the winner is chosen based upon merit
