AAM President to attend KMHA annual meeting

Ford Bell, president of the American Association of Museums (AAM) will give remarks at the Kentucky Museum and Heritage Alliance (KMHA) annual meeting in Bowling Green June 3-5. "My Brother, My Enemy" Civil War exhibit opens at KHS in June

This exhibit, created by the Frazier History Museum, will open on June 2, as part of KHS's annual Boone Day celebration. Boone Day 2012 also includes a Kentucky History Fair, tours of the Old State Capitol and Kentucky Military History Museum, a catered dinner and more. Northern Kentucky Regional History Day a great success!

Congratulations to Northern Kentucky University and that region's museums and local history organizations for sponsoring another successful Northern Kentucky Regional History Day. This year's event had a record turnout and excellent sessions and workshops. Next's year's event will be on March 16, 2013.

 

 "The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky" available online and on DVD

This extensive oral history project that documented the Civil Rights movement in Kentucky can help teachers and local history organizations learn more through an extensive online database and the documentary "Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky." Preservation Needs Assessment and Risk Assessment Programs

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) is seeking applicants for its Preservation Needs Assessment and Risk Assessment programs. Through funding through the NEH, CCAHA is able to offer a limited number of subsidized assessments for $350. For information, see www.ccaha.org .

 

PATHWAYS from AASLH

The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) has produced PATHWAYS, a guide for creating successful programs. The publication includes information on marketing and more. For information, see www.aaslh.org.

 

American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP)

Part of the National Park Service, the ABPP has battlefield preservation grants available that can be used for archaeology, cultural landscape inventories, GIS mapping, National Register Nominations, preservation plans and more. For information, see www.nps.gov/history/hps/abpp.
