Citizen Advisory Committee Completes
Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)
Project List for the City of Fayetteville

In the latter part of 2015, Steve Rapson, the  County Manager for Fayette County, and  representatives from each of the cities
within Fayette County, met to discuss a SPLOST project list for the November 2016 ballot. As a result of the meeting, Mr. Rapson requested that each of the cities provide a list of projects to be considered for a potential 4-year, 5-year, or 6-year SPLOST. These lists are in the process of being compiled into an intergovernmental
agreement that would go before the County Commissioners for a vote in the coming months.

Highway 92 / Hood Avenue
Realignment Project Update

Progress has been moving forward for the project with the traffic flow from Hood Avenue being temporarily diverted into the new Highway 92 roundabout, while work is performed on the Highway 85 side of the roundabout.

New Parental Escort Policy at Cinemark Tinseltown

On May 20, 2016, Cinemark Tinseltown 17 Theater at the Fayette Pavilion instituted a Parental Escort policy in partnership with the Fayetteville Police Department.
 
This effort was initiated to help curb some of the crimes and issues created by the abundance of large groups of unsupervised juveniles at the Fayette Pavilion, and particularly at Tinseltown.

by participating in Meals on Wheels

The City of Fayetteville supports Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a national program that provides meals for homebound seniors who have reduced mobility.  Fayette Senior Services here in Fayetteville is the sole provider of Meals On Wheels for Fayette County, and relies heavily on volunteers to provide clients with food and friendship.  Each year over 40,000 nutritious meals are delivered throughout Fayette County.

Downtown Events in Fayetteville!
Recap from June - Music, Movies & Food!

June was a busy month in Downtown Fayetteville!   The summer concert series kicked off with two sell-out shows at Southern Ground Amphitheater.  An evening of Doo-wop classics featuring the music of The Drifters/Tams/Coasters, followed by a 70's double-shot with the Atlanta Rhythm Section and Pure Prairie League, made June that much hotter!  Adding to our fun, we also:
  • Attended the 2015 version of Cinderella at "Moovie Night" 
  • Enjoyed "Lunch on the Lawn" with live music from Fayettevillian Jason Bowen
  • Started the monthly "Market Days" on the Courthouse lawn
Coming in July and August

Market Day - July 16 (10:00am -2:00pm).  Local market where vendors provide anything "handmade or homegrown".  Held monthly through October on the old courthouse lawn.  Currently seeking produce vendors. Call Joyce to sign up! 770-719-4175.
 
Free Moovie Night with Fayetteville Dwarf House - August 19 (Gates open at 7am).  Enjoy "Shaun the Sheep" at the Southern Ground Amphitheater.
