So if we're being honest with you, the Holiday season is not usually our favorite time of year. The crowds, the stress of buying stuff our loved ones don't want with money we don't have, the obligatory cookies, and subsequent cookie-hangovers. It's all too much. This year, though, we've changed our tune a bit. The new Lyric is shining on our horizon like a sweet beacon of light with all-new plumbing, and we have some really excellent movies right now that are showcasing important points of view from people in historically disadvantaged groups. That's PROGRESS, people! And if nothing else, at least 2017 promises not to be boring, amiright? **chugs a whole bottle of bourbon while cry-lauging**

Anyway, to celebrate our newfound Holiday Spirit, all the employees recently gathered in the lobby eating cheeseburgers and making paper snowflakes to decorate our last Festivus at the old Lyric. None of us really like Christmas carols (except Kelly, who was at home with her loving husband and family), so instead we all sang some old classics by the Foo Fighters. So, next time you come in, please feel free to openly marvel at the winter wonderland we've created with recycled Box Office Reports. If you're lucky, you might even hear us break into our rendition of "Monkey Wrench."

Speaking of holiday cheer, did you know we're showing both Love Actually and Die Hard this month? Love Actually plays this Sunday the 11 th, and runs through the 13 th! Die hard plays December 18 th through 20 th! Check the website for show times.

In other business: A Man Called Ove is leaving (again) Thursday, so if you still need to see it get your buns in here quick! Friday we're getting The Eagle Huntress, which looks supremely badass. If you like uplifting true-life stories about strong, fearless girls, see this movie. Plus the film is executive-produced and narrated by another badass lady, Daisy Ridley (of Star Wars fame). Eff yes.

The Eagle Huntress follows Aisholpan, a 13-year-old girl, as she trains to become the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter, and rises to the pinnacle of a tradition that has been handed down from father to son for centuries. Set against the breath-taking expanse of the Mongolian steppe, this documentary features some of the most awe-inspiring cinematography ever captured in the genre, giving this intimate tale of a young girl's quest the dramatic force of an epic narrative film.

From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, Loving celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (portrayed by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry - and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since.

A young man deals with his dysfunctional home life and comes of age in Miami during the "War on Drugs" era. The story of his struggle to find himself is told across three defining chapters in his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain, and beauty of falling in love while grappling with his own sexuality.

Bad Movie Nite! is a fully realized show consisting of a B-Movie with added text commentary and edits with a bad "commercial" break too! Heckling encouraged!
