Book-signing and fundraiser at the SA Cat Cafe a success
Our book-signing fundraiser at the San Antonio Cat Cafe was a great success! Katrina Manning, author of the Marmalade Book Series autographed many books and was interested in making it an annual event. SA Cat Cafe owner, Casey Steuart, was thrilled with the attendance for her first event. Her grand opening is scheduled for October 29th, but there will be other events like "Wine & Whiskers" on Wednesdays in October. Check out the cafe website for more info.
SAFCC provided the felines and the food for this event. Thanks to everyone who participated to give the San Antonio Cat Cafe a great start! Maria Baxter won the raffle prize, an orange Marmalade wooden cat. Congratulations, Maria! It was a great day, all around, with several of our kitties being adopted!

Thanks to the Petco Foundation for a $5,000 grant awarded to SAFCC! This grant will fund our Subsidy Program, which keeps the cost of TNR to only $20 for our TNR Class attendees.
We are so grateful for their support!
In addition, our Community Cat Adoption Program was awarded a $175 grant for The Petco Foundation's Be A Lifesaver Adoption weekend on September 9 and 10. CCAP received the grant monies for adoptions performed in our Petco locations that weekend. Good job, CCAP!

Thanks to ACS and SA Humane Society for food donations
Heartfelt thanks go out to Fumiko, with the Community Cat Program at ACS, for donating over 40 bags of Hill Country Fare cat food to SAFCC. This generous food donation will go a long way to supplement our Colony Caretaker Food Program.
Thanks again, ACS!
We also want to thank Erin, Operations Director at the San Antonio Humane Society for offering some of their surplus cat food to SAFCC and our food program.
Our Colony Caretaker Food Program is entirely funded by donations. If you would like to donate toward this program to help volunteer caretakers who manage/feed large cat colonies, please make a donation HERE and select the Colony Caretaker Food Program.

Good TNR news for Wilson and Comal County
There is a lot of good news to share about TNR OUTSIDE of San Antonio! Thanks to Chris Montgomery, a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization is operating in the Wilson County area: Wilson County Cats. They are organized to focus on the spay/neuter of cats in Wilson County through Trap-Neuter-Return and educating about community cats. T
hese guys are brand new and very much in a start-up phase and need volunteers so be sure to give their Facebook page a "like!"
Congrats, Chris!
In other good news, Comal County Texas voted unanimously on September 7 to endorse Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) as the humane method of addressing feral cat populations in Comal County. Many thanks for the hard work and support of all involved including Commissioners Donna Eccleston and Kevin Webb, Jenny Burgess, Comal Animal Control and all the volunteers and dedicated individuals who have championed TNR for years. There is a lot of work to do but this is an important step in the collaboration towards a better future for community cats of Comal County. Give the TNR organization in that county -The New Braunfels-a like too!

SAFCC Pet of the month: Bella
Bella is a beautiful 2 year old brown and black female tabby. Adopted as a kitten to a military family with small children, they reluctantly had to give her up to move to another state. She is playful and low maintenance. Her personality is affectionate and loyal. She loves to be petted and kissed, and would make a great companion cat. She would do best as an only pet since other cats or dogs seem to stress her out. Bella's foster mom sees her with a single person or a couple with no children.
If you're interested in Bella, contact Susan at (210) 803-9334 or at susanschmahlenberger@msn.com. SAFCC cats are spayed/neutered, current on rabies and vaccinations, dewormed, micro-chipped, and tested for feline aids and leukemia.

We'd like to give a special thanks to
SpaySA for helping us get our backlog of kittens spayed & neutered. SAFCC coordinated wtih SpaySA and the
San Antonio Humane Society to fix 56 kittens for our Community Cat Adoption Program in record time so they could be placed for adoption.
