District News
Superintendent's Corner
Very soon the yellow school buses will be visible again, the school supplies will move back to their original location from the front of the stores, and the traffic on 116th Street will dramatically increase. All signs that we are on the verge of a new school year!

The summer months are a busy time for our school staff. This summer, school buildings were cleaned thoroughly; repairs, improvements, and minor construction projects were completed in school buildings; new employees were hired; and educators and other employees participated in professional learning and planning for the school year. Several of our educators participated in our summer school program with a range of offerings to K-12 students to both strengthen and enhance academic skills.

Our back-to-school theme this year is Proud History, Bright Future . We are finalizing our annual district goals and will communicate those in the upcoming weeks. As we welcome the new school year, Whitnall School District will continue our focus on:
  • Student achievement and readiness
  • Effective communication
  • Responsive fiscal planning and management
  • District culture and climate

In September, you can expect the next district newsletter and a community survey focused on facilities and referendum planning. You can also anticipate our new website. Thank you for completing our surveys last year to provide us important feedback for continuous improvement. Continue to watch our Facebook and Twitter accounts for additional good news and celebrations.

We are pleased to welcome our students and staff back to school for the 2017-2018 academic year! The new educators, support staff, and administrators who have joined our Whitnall family bring with them experience and enthusiasm for learning. We are ready for your children. It's going to be a great year!

Website Under Construction
Our website is under construction. The information that families need for the beginning of the school year will be added/updated on the current site. Beyond that (or with more general items) you may notice outdated/unavailable information; know that that is not an oversight, but a (unfortunately messy) part of transitioning to a new website! Bear with us. We promise it will be worth it!
