When the holidays come around and a year comes to a close, a sense of reflection settles in. We look at where we are and we look to where we were. And, hopefully, we see our once aspirations have turned to realities. That is certainly true for Whitnall. We set out to promote kindness and empathy within our district, and we witnessed it in the generosity of our staff and students this holiday season. Whether it was EES students bringing gifts to patients at Children's Hospital or WHS AP Spanish students delivering food, clothes, and toys to the families of the 16th Street Clinic, the spirit of giving was visible. There are many more examples of generosity from our staff and students--too many to list--but I feel confident in saying that Whitnall was a significant provider of joy throughout the community this year.
The week before winter break rivals only the last week of the school year in excitement, activities, and fun! This week, I attended holiday concerts, saw decorated hallways, and participated in holiday parties. And the fun isn't over yet! Before the end of the day, I will see Flash the Falcon dressed as Santa, I will watch a staff variety show, and I will see a staff versus student volleyball game!
I hope you all have happy holidays and a wonderful start to the new year!
