District News
Superintendent's Corner
Although we have entered that time of year when holidays are far from scarce, it's still fun to hear of (and maybe celebrate) obscure holidays. In September, there's Talk Like a Pirate Day. In October, there's Moldy Cheese Day. In November, there's Have a Bad Day Day. And today , it's Lost and Found Day. Lost and Found Day may seem random at first; a day to ruminate on all your lost items? For me, my class ring from high school. For you, it may be a favorite ornament that went missing as the decorations took their eleven-month nap or a favorite sweater that seemingly ran away from its weekly exhibiting. But perhaps it's not so random. Perhaps it's a great reminder as we enter a notoriously busy and stressful time of year. Lose your expectations and find some gratitude. Presence over presents. Lose yourself in one of our winter concerts or find yourself giving to one of our charitable drives.

For our students, we hope Lost and Found Day finds them losing their fear of failure and finding some risks to take.

AP Spanish Community Service - Learning Project
Each year, the AP Spanish classes conduct a community service-learning project. The project not only enables students to help out in their community, but they also demonstrate their growth in the main communication skills of interpersonal communication, presentational communication, and interpretive listening and reading. During the month of December, the AP Spanish classes will be conducting a fundraiser for 16th Street Clinic in Milwaukee. Items for their home and children, like food, clothes, and toys will be collected. If members of the community are interested in donating to this service project, donations may be dropped off in the main Whitnall High School office. Please mark them “Attn: AP Spanish”.
