Speech and Language Screenings
October 1-5, the speech and language pathologists from our elementary schools will be conducting speech and language screenings for all 4-year-old students enrolled or residing in the Whitnall School District. The screening will briefly assess sound production skills, as well as the understanding and expression of language skills.

If you are interested in having your child’s speech and language skills screened, please call Kelly Pluta at 414.525.8953 to set up an appointment.
Highway to Hales
On September 22, there will be a community celebration, "Highway to Hales." The bash is meant to encourage people to patronize the local businesses that have been impacted by the Highway 100 road work. It will also be a great opportunity to bring the community together. The event will feature many local organizations and businesses, including Whitnall! Our Jazz Band and Cheer Squad will be there! Click here for an article on the event. And click here for updates from the Hales Corners Chamber of Commerce.

Safety Procedures
In order to enhance the well-being of students and staff, Whitnall School District has partnered with Raptor Technologies in implementing new check-in/out procedures for the 2018-2019 school year. All visitors that want to go beyond the front office must check in using the Raptor system. All first time visitors to the district since the implementation of Raptor must sign in using their driver’s license or other valid form of identification. The Raptor system does not scan the ID, it collects first name, last name, date of birth, partial ID #, and picture. First time visitors or first time users of the Raptor Visitor Management system should expect a few extra minutes to scan their ID. Student safety is our number one priority. Thank you for your cooperation in following these new procedures.

Parking Lot Pick Up Reminders
We strongly urge you to stay in your car and use the double horseshoe lanes. You will be directed to Safety Sidewalk to pick up your child. Having parents walking across traffic within the parking lot is not safe. Leaving your car in the horseshoe lanes to get your child blocks the flow and is not to be done. Parking on Janesville Road just west of the driveway provides a safe walking path that doesn’t cross traffic. We’ve heard that waiting in the pick up lane is “too long.” In fact, all students have been picked up by 3:50 PM. This is a 15 minute period from the dismissal bell to completion.
The First PTO Meeting
The first PTO meeting of the year is Tuesday, September 18 at 7 PM. Prior to the meeting at 6:30 PM, you can join Mrs. Komas for a “Principal Chat.” Please consider joining the PTO and participating as a volunteer. Working together is our strength at HCE!
