District News
Superintendent's Corner
This week included a lot of time in the community. We are again grateful that the Greenfield Fire Department assisted when the power went out at the Homecoming Dance last Saturday. It will be a great memory for our students!

This past Monday, the district held its budget hearing and annual meeting. Sixth graders from WMS shared some of their initial work from our Makerspace, which included new nameplates for school board members.

Last night, our football game was the Thursday Night Lights game, and we were victorious, keeping our undefeated winning streak in place. The newly made over Flash made his second public appearance and had his makeover journey shared in this week's newspaper .

During last year's parent focus meetings, parents indicated an interest in learning about topics we are discussing as educators, to learn alongside. We are starting a Parent Learning Academy, where you can learn more about topics and their implementation at Whitnall. See the information below for dates and topics for this year. Our first one is Tuesday, October 10!

Enjoy the weekend!

Parent Listening Sessions on Grading/Reporting
There has been a great deal of research and discussion surrounding grading and reporting, and we would like to invite parents to attend a listening session to help understand the ‘why’ behind these conversations. This will also be a time for us to collect thoughts from our parents and community, helping us form more decisions as we continue on this journey. Listening sessions will be held for each level:

Date: October 10, 2017
Location: WSD Community Board Room (entrance facing tennis courts on 116th)
Times:
6:00pm (EES & HCE)
6:30pm (WMS)
7:00pm (WHS)

Please indicate if you will attend one or more of these sessions so that we may plan our space accordingly via our GRADING QUESTIONS form ! This form also has an area to add questions so that we ensure that all questions are addressed. (You may enter your questions regardless of whether you are able to attend the session.)

If you have trouble accessing the form, please email Lynn LeRoy -  [email protected] .

Facilities Needs Survey Coming Soon!
On October 5, you will receive a survey centered around our facilities needs via an email from School Perceptions. Your feedback is invaluable as we move toward our referendum. Please complete the survey by October 23. Thank you in advance!
