Ammonia Chiller & Heat Exchanger Installation Complete

Centre Ice Arena is in tip-top shape these days! Right on the heels of the extensive rink renovation project that was required for the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp and NHL Prospect Tournament to return came another major undertaking. The ammonia chiller and heat exchanger at Centre Ice - equipment required to keep the ice frozen and sub-floor warm - were replaced when it was discovered both were failing after many years of use. Keen Technical Solutions of Traverse City was the contractor for the project which is complete.

According to Tod Cook, Centre Ice Facilities Manager, the new equipment is "environmentally much safer and economically much better. The new chiller is 25% more productive than the previous unit and possesses more capacity to refrigerate which in return is a cost savings to the arena."

The chiller/heat exchanger project alone cost approximately $200,000. The NHL-mandated rink upgrades totaled $220,000. Grand total of recent Centre Ice renovations = $420,000.

Meet Director Joshua Riehl, Executive Producer Dan Milstein and Producers Steve Bannatyne, Jenny Feterovich and Keith Gave, who is also the author of the book The Russian Five which will be available at the reception.

Retired NHL player John Scott will join the panel to offer insight into the effect the five Russians had on the NHL. Local radio personality Ron Jolly is Master of Ceremonies.
