Autism Speaks: New Dental Tool Kit

 

Brushing teeth and visiting the dentist can be frustrating. This tool kit shows a video and a social story on how to maintain oral hygiene as well as to prepare for the dentist visit. It also provides you with tools to give to your dentist to prepare the office for your child's visit.

The Critical Voice of Parents in Education

Parents are critical assets in education. Parents can be a voice for high expectations for children and for supporting educators in creating schools where all children receive what they need to succeed. An excellent education is every child's civil right; and while our nation has made great strides-with a record high school graduation rate and college enrollment at all-time highs-we have much further to go to ensure that every child has equal opportunity to learn. IRS Proposes Rules For New ABLE Accounts 

 

Six months after a federal law paved the way for tax-free savings accounts for people with disabilities, officials are providing details on how they expect the new program to operate.

 

In a proposed rule issued Monday, the Internal Revenue Service unveiled guidelines for the Achieving a Better Life Experience, or ABLE, Act. The federal law is designed to allow people with disabilities to save money without risking their government benefits. Read more

 

Bullying

Some people call me a "bully buster." As a teen I did my own research about bullying, I wrote a survival guide, and I was bullied myself. I believe there's a lot we can do to stop bullying!

To share that hope, I often visit elementary, middle, and high schools. If I came to your school, here's what I'd do in the all-school assembly: I'd ask everybody to close their eyes for a minute.
