The Dance Corner News: March 2017

Hello TDC families!

Spring is in the air!  We are only 13 weeks away from recital 2017!

I know many of you are new to The Dance Corner and have many questions about recital. My staff and I are hard at work this month compiling info for all our families about ticket sales, dancer drop-off and pick-up, hair and make up, video sales, t-shirts, flowers, rehearsal schedule....and more!

I try very hard to keep the recital process as easy as possible for families, but at close to 300 students it is a pretty big undertaking. We do have some rules and requirements to keep the event organized, safe and fun for everyone.  A recital bulletin including more details about the event will be emailed to families later this month.

The main info all families need to know right now is what show their child dances in.  Mark your calendars for that date and our stage rehearsal on Friday, June 2nd.

Our stage rehearsal on 6/2 is not a dress rehearsal. We block off 10-15 minutes for each class to rehearse their dance onstage in regular dance wear. This helps dancers get comfortable with the space and being on stage in front of an audience so there are no surprises for them on perforimance day.  We are working on that schedule this month, so let us know if you have any conflicts on Friday, 6/2. We really want to have every dancer there to practice on stage before the show. 

Picture days are this month and costumes are coming home this week. If you have any questions about costumes, picture days or anything please feel free to reach out to me or my assistant Miss Nicole for any info you need. I also encourage you to stop into our dance shop and office in the front building when you are at the studio. My staff and I are there 3:30-8:00 nightly Monday- Thursday and on Saturday mornings 8:45-11:30 and are happy to help you navigate the recital process.

Costumes and Tights Coming Home This Week!
We are sending costumes home in all classes this week.  If your child misses class, we will give them their costume in class next week, or you can stop by our shop to pick up the costume.  

Any costumes unclaimed after 3/11 will be available for pick-up in the dance shop.

Students will receive  tights with their costumes for the recital (except boys).  Many kids have more than one style or color tights. 

Not sure what tights to wear with each costume?  

We guess-timated the tights sizes so it is possible that the tights included with your costume are the wrong size. When you receive your tights, please check the size chart on the back to determine if they will fit.
If they are the wrong size, please bring the incorrectly sized tights to our dance shop in their original package and we will give you a new correctly sized pair of tights.
Please do not try your tights on. Once they are out of the package they cannot be exchanged.

Please hang up costumes. Tutus should be flipped upside down and hung that way over a hanger to keep them full.  If you don't have a steamer at home, hang any wrinkled tutus or other delicate costumes in the bathroom while you are showering to give them a steam.  

PLEASE WRITE YOUR DANCER'S NAME IN ALL COSTUME PIECES.  Bring any headpieces, bands, ribbons or other accessories to pictures with you and we will explain how to wear these items at your class picture time.

Picture Days

 Dance Portraits will be taken by Donner Photographic. Please notify Miss Carrie if you have a conflict with your scheduled photo time. Students who cannot attend their class' scheduled time may schedule another time to have individual pictures taken, but they will not be in the class photo.

Students who don't have a costume yet, can take individual portraits in another costume or dancewear of their choosing, but will not be in the class photo.

There will be NO regular classes during Picture Days,

March 14th-16th.

Please arrive at the studio promptly at your scheduled picture time in costume with hair- bun at back of head or french braid(s) with end(s) of braid pinned up and makeup (if desired) done. Please don't worry about headpieces.  Just bring them to picture day and we will go over how they will be worn and pin them in there.

 If you have more than one costume please refer to the schedule to see which class is scheduled first. There will be limited changing space during pictures. Both dance studios will be set up for photographers, and the waiting room will be curtained off as a dressing room. Studio 7 will also be available for changing. Please try to leave siblings at home and bring only one parent to your scheduled picture time (preferably mom since men will not be allowed in changing areas). Men and boys should enter the studio through the back door. The front door will lead straight into the changing area. 

In scheduling classes for pictures, we have made every effort to limit the number of students in the studio at one time, but there will be times on both days when it will be very crowded. Please plan accordingly, and label all your costumes, shoes and other belongings. Arrive on-time and ready for your pictures to help keep the day on schedule.

Pay in full for your summer classes and camps by April 20th and save 10%.

Monthly Tuition Payments
Monthly Tuition bills are due the first of each month. Make your payments conveniently and securely online by logging into our  Customer Portal .

We accept credit and debit card payments online or you can pay directly from your bank account by e-check.

Customers can also opt for auto-pay and avoid the extra step of logging in to pay each month. Notify our office that you would like to be an auto-pay customer, enter your payment method into your account online and your account will be automatically charged on the 1st of each month.

You may also pay by credit/debit card, cash or check in our Dance Shop.  

All customers were required to submit a credit/debit card or bank draft information at registration. If your account is not paid in full by the 15th of the month, this payment method will be charged for the balance due on the 16th of the month. If your payment is declined, a $10 late fee will be applied to your account. A $25 service fee will be charged for all returned checks.
