The Dance Corner News: September 2017
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with fun and family. We were very busy here at TDC this summer. Our Dance Company dancers competed in to National Championships and the World Dance Championships with great success.

The teaching staff and I continued our professional development by attending the Tumbling Effect tumbling and acrobatics certification program in New York. I also completed my Acrobatic Arts certification in Massachusetts last month. It has been so challenging and rewarding honing old skills and learning new ones. I can't wait to share all I've learned with our students.

I also attended the More Than Just Great Dancing Member Rally in Wisconsin this summer. This was a meeting of all the More Than Just Great Dancing affiliated studios where we attended seminars and training sessions on topics ranging from management and leadership to injury prevention in dancers. This was an amazing event and I came away from it wanting to find new ways to give every student and family MORE this season.

This is the The Dance Corner's 24th season and our motto for this year is "More in 24". From our lobby make over, to the new mats for our acrobatics and tumbling students, to the addition of our Family Care Coordinator to better serve our families, my team and I are focused on providing every student and family with the most positive experience possible. #Morein24 is not just a hastag or social media gimmick, this is the theme for me as a business owner and for everyone on my team this year. We are committed to surpassing your expectations.

You are always welcome to stop by my office in the Dance Shop or email or call me directly with any questions or concerns. If you are not able to connect with me, please stop into the shop and Janice ( our Retail and Office Coordinator). Jenny (our Family Care Coordinator), Jeanne or Marci (our customer service staff) or Amy (Customer service and Birthday Party Concierge!) will be happy to help you. They can assist you with questions about classes, billing, enrollment, costumes, etc, If they can't answer your question, they will be sure to let me know what's going on and I will reach out to you myself.

Or you can also email Janice at Office@Thedancecorner.com with questions about shoe and dancewear orders and contact MissJenny@Thedancecorner.com with questions about your classes, account management, absences, etc.

Please join me in welcoming our new instructors, K.T. Nelson Hart and Catherine Florentine to the team this season. These ladies are qualified, talented and energetic instructors and I can't wait to work with them this year. I know our students are going to love their classes!

To our students and parents, I would like to thank you for choosing The Dance Corner.
My philosophy of dance education is that we are not just creating great dancers, we are creating great people. I want your child's experience at The Dance Corner to be positive, confidence building and fun! The Dance Corner is a community of teachers and families, teaching and nurturing kids through the art and discipline of dance. I welcome you to our community and am looking forward to fantastic year with you and your child!

More in our Community
TDC had the opportunity to perform in the 350th Anniversary Parade for the town of Killingworth. The Dance Corner has called Killingworth home for all of our 24 seasons, and we were so proud to see our dancers not only representing TDC, but also being great dance citizens to one another. Our oldest dancers were leaders to our younger dancers, and our younger dancers were great listeners and team players. What a great way to kick off Season 24!
Welcome our Family Care Coordinator
We are pleased to announce the addition of Jenny Bordonaro to The Dance Corner's administrative team as the Family Care Coordinator.
Miss Jenny has been a ballet and lyrical instructor at The Dance Corner for three years, and we are excited to have her join the front office team. You may hear from Miss Jenny this season by phone or email since she will be assisting with customer communication and enrollment . Miss Jenny and our entire team will work together to find new ways of giving every one of our students and families the most positive customer experience possible.
Please join us in congratulating Miss Jenny on her new role at TDC!

Important Info
For Dancers and Their Families
We ask all families respect the following:

  • If you are going to be late or absent, please notify the studio by email, missjenny@thedancecorner.com or phone 860-663-3738
  • Students who are more than 15 minutes late to class will not be allowed to participate. An adequate warm-up is necessary for students to safely participate fully in class. Our number one priority is safety!
  • Gum chewing is not permitted at any time
  • No running or horseplay in the lobbies, studios or parking lot
  • All trash and personal belonging must be removed after each class. The Dance Corner is not responsible for the loss of any personal items left in our lobbies or studios.
  • Vandalism of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Please do not leave young brothers and sisters unattended
A Safe and Fun Waiting Room
If you elect to stay for your child's class, please note the following:

  • Please take the opportunity to view our classesthrough the viewing windows, and leave the doors closed so our dancers can do their best in growing to be healthy and happy dancers.
  • Please keep your voices low when observing class; it is very easy for our dancers to get distracted if they hear the voice of a loved one at any age.
  • For the safety of yourself and others, please do not stand on the cubbies, chairs, or hang or lean on the viewing windows.
  • Please make sure all siblings are supervised at all times.
  • Please do not hang heavy bags on hooks, only jackets. Heavy bags, shoes and larger items should not be worn or brought into the classroom, but can be placed in the cubbies.
Studio Parking
Due to the number of families arriving and leaving at the same time, the parking lot can become very congested. If your schedule allows you to arrive a little early for class, please do. If you are planning on staying during your child's class, please park behind the building, in front of the Dance Shop or in the side parking spots on the Studio 7 side of our building. The rear doors to our main studios and studio 7 will be open during classes. We suggest driving around back using the main entrance driveway, dropping off and then continuing around the west side of the building following the gravel drive to exit onto Route 80. Please do not park in front of Rosello's Pizza. The parking area in front of Rosell0's should be used for drop offs and pick ups only.
Please DO NOT ENTER THE UNPAVED NARROW DRIVE ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE BUILDING. This is an exit only. Please enter the parking lot in the large paved entrance. From there you can drive around the back of the building and exit out the unpaved drive.
