 Principal's Message
Happy Friday Delaware Trail Families,

I hope that you have had a great start to the month of February. The groundhog did NOT see his shadow which means spring is coming soon! We plan on getting the students outside during recess in the coming months, so please remember to have them dress appropriately for the weather.

On Friday, February 12th, we will have our classroom parties. Please remember that all folks volunteering to attending the parties MUST have a background check on file. We cannot let anyone in without it. This is a measure put in place to keep or students and staff safe and we appreciate your support with this. Our annual "Muffins with Moms" event is coming up on Friday, February 19th. This event is open to all moms, grandmas, aunts or women who impact the lives of our students.
Finally, our "Time with Teacher" event will be on Monday, February 29th after school. If your child is participating, please stand by for directions for pick up that afternoon.

As a reminder, we have our ISTEP testing window from February 29th-March 11th for grades 3-5 and our IREAD testing from March 14th- 16th for 3rd grade. Please refrain from scheduling appointments for your children during these windows of time.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Greene

Transportation Changes
As a reminder, if you have a transportation change for your child, please call the office by no later than 2:30 p.m. or send a note.  Teachers are teaching our children throughout the day and will not be able to check email or phone messages for a change during the day.

Social Health
Parents of 4th and 5th Grade Students - Each 4th and 5th grade student will participate in a Social Health Program during the month of March.  This program outlines the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty.  Students will be shown appropriate films for their age group followed by a question and answer period.  Parents are invited to preview these films at the Administration Office located at 310 Stadium Drive (Please enter through Door #7 on the back side of the building) on Tuesday, February 16 at 6:30 pm.  The preview will be facilitated by Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup and Health Services Supervisor Melissa Smith.  If you have questions about the content of these films, please contact your child's school nurse.

5th Grade Battle of the Books
5th grade students participated in the Battle of the Books last semester. Each classroom winning team battled against the others and the overall 5th grade winning team battled, for the first time, against the winning 5th grade team at Cardinal. It was a very close match, with Cardinal coming out on top by 4 points. Delaware Trail-34, Cardinal-38.
We would like to congratulate all of the Delaware Trail classroom winners!
